    Default Palmolive Shave Stick

Just tried my Palmolive shave stick for the first time. Seems to smell much better than the Arko shave stick. Have any of you tried the Palmolive stick? How do you like it compared to the Arko?

I like my Palmolive and I think it works just as well or better than Arko.

Palmolive gets great praises around here, but for some reason I don't think it works well with my water, it is hard for me to get a good lather from it. But on the brighter side I would rather use it 10 times over the smell of Arko!
I could probably load Tabac on a Q-tip and still get a decent lather

+1 on previous comments. I use the Arko (cushiony) but Palmolive is my favorite shave stick. Slick and pleasant fresh lemony type scent and it lathers up really well.
Dusty, I have super hard water and on top of rubbing the stick on my face I also use my brush rub it against the stick a little to ensure I've got plenty of soap to work with.

I found the performance pretty good, but the scent is something I can't get past. It's not that it's overpowering but it's just a scent to me that I don't like.

I had avoided the Palmolive and used Arko as I imagined it smelt like the Palmolive cream which I really don't care for. They were on offer at my local supermarket so I thought for 49p I would give it a try.

The result, I have a stick of Arko and four sticks of Palmolive in backup. I bought a vintage shave stick holder and the Palmolive is a perfect fit.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

I find I like it better than Arko but I also agree that it is harder to lather than Arko. I would like to pick up some more Palmolive sticks. The cheapest I can find is westcoastshaving for $3.75. Is there any place else that has a better deal?

Have and used the Palmolive stick but not one I reach for that often. The performance is good although I am not a huge fan of the scent. I for one do like the Arko on both counts. YMMV I guess.

    Wanting to try this stick.
Maybe someone would like to trade it for a stick for Russian shaving cream or Sputnik/Gillette Rubie blades?

One of my favorites...the Euro formulation, anyhow. That's the only one I've tried.

I tried a MMOC once. I've sinced switched to straight razor shaving because it was less dangerous.

I enjoy Palmolive and it gives great shaves, however I think Arko tastes better!

I like the Palmolive stick and use it mostly for travel. I do get good results with it.

I have found the Palmolive to be a great performer however I wasn't a huge fan of the stick format so I grated it into a small bowl. If anything I think it might have improved the performance of the soap however the grater I used now has a funny smell, even after a number of washes. Connaught shaving has Palmolive sticks priced at 2.25 £ for 2 which is quite a good deal.

I have both and for me the euro Palmolive stick is the winner by far. For some reason I cannot get the legendary arko to work anywhere close to its reputation. I have issues with the Palmolive scent but the performance and price more than makes up for it!

Palmolive (australian) lathers better than Arko for sure, more glide and longetivity as well. The scent is certainly milder, but scents are always a matter of personal preference. The GZD stick lathers as good as Palmolive, and it has the Arko scent....

I also prefer the Palmolive to the Arko, because of the scent. I'm getting more tolerant of the Arko scent, but I really don't like it. Palmolive has a nice clean smell and lathers OK. I use sticks mostly for traveling, and Cella at home.

In general, I don't want much scent in shaving soap. I'll put on some Old Spice or Renew when I'm done shaving, but the soap should be pleasant, but very mild.

Thanks for the info on Connaught shaving kiwi_tom. I just ordered 12 sticks from them at less than half of what Amazon gets here in the USA.

No worries enjoy the Palmolive. You should be set for years with 12 sticks its a hard soap and a little bit goes a long way.
