Just tried my Palmolive shave stick for the first time. Seems to smell much better than the Arko shave stick. Have any of you tried the Palmolive stick? How do you like it compared to the Arko?

I like my Palmolive and I think it works just as well or better than Arko.

Palmolive gets great praises around here, but for some reason I don't think it works well with my water, it is hard for me to get a good lather from it. But on the brighter side I would rather use it 10 times over the smell of Arko!
I could probably load Tabac on a Q-tip and still get a decent lather
+1 on previous comments. I use the Arko (cushiony) but Palmolive is my favorite shave stick. Slick and pleasant fresh lemony type scent and it lathers up really well.
Dusty, I have super hard water and on top of rubbing the stick on my face I also use my brush rub it against the stick a little to ensure I've got plenty of soap to work with.
I found the performance pretty good, but the scent is something I can't get past. It's not that it's overpowering but it's just a scent to me that I don't like.
I really enjoy this stick, I use it at least once a week.
I find that Arko lathers better however i like them both.

I had avoided the Palmolive and used Arko as I imagined it smelt like the Palmolive cream which I really don't care for. They were on offer at my local supermarket so I thought for 49p I would give it a try.
The result, I have a stick of Arko and four sticks of Palmolive in backup. I bought a vintage shave stick holder and the Palmolive is a perfect fit.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
I find I like it better than Arko but I also agree that it is harder to lather than Arko. I would like to pick up some more Palmolive sticks. The cheapest I can find is westcoastshaving for $3.75. Is there any place else that has a better deal?
I just purchased a 6 stick bundle of the Palmolive Classic in the green box made in Germany. Found on Ebay from a nice looking shop in Market Harborough, UK called Mistry's Pharmacy. I love this stuff!! Only takes a small amount to generate mounds of lather(no issues at all with generating lather by rubbing the stick directly on my face after prepping with water), smells insanely good to me, and leaves my face feeling really supple. It's something like $3/stick with free shipping...

I had my first shave the Palmolive shave stick last night.
EJ86 razor with an Astra SS blade.
All I can say is WOW.
I've only been DE shaving for about 3 weeks and this is the first tiime I've got near a BBS shave.
It's a great tool for a newbie like me, it was so easy to get a lovely lather and shave was comfortable and smooth.
I'm a very happy bunny, even happier whe yourealise this wonderful little stick of soap costs 50p here in the UK.
this was also the first time I've face lathered as well, which was also very nice and comfortable and something I need to do more often.

Have and used the Palmolive stick but not one I reach for that often. The performance is good although I am not a huge fan of the scent. I for one do like the Arko on both counts. YMMV I guess.
Wanting to try this stick.
Maybe someone would like to trade it for a stick for Russian shaving cream or Sputnik/Gillette Rubie blades?
One of my favorites...the Euro formulation, anyhow. That's the only one I've tried.

I tried a MMOC once. I've sinced switched to straight razor shaving because it was less dangerous.
I enjoy Palmolive and it gives great shaves, however I think Arko tastes better!

I like the Palmolive stick and use it mostly for travel. I do get good results with it.
