Thread: Dry Last Pass!

  1. #1

    Default Dry Last Pass!

During the past month I've been doing a dry last pass. It consists of towel drying my face and then XTG from ear to mouth in SHORT strokes! Also, going over any rough spots WTG, ATG or XTG. The result is a consistent BBS followed by a hot then cold rinse and aftershave! Try it and see if it works for you. Jim

Whatever works for you. All the mental pictures I'm drawing of myself trying this end up bloody.

It really is all James' fault.

But if it works for you great.

Haha, I'd be afraid that the blade would skip and dig into the skin. But yes, if it works, don't fix it!

    Evan,

    I'm using a DE.

I know it sounds nutty and I'm doing it with LIGHT pressure! It's not a smooth stroke but it's a SHORT one. The strokes are about a half inch long. I stretch the skin as though I were using a str8.

Some of you guys are exaggerating with blood and gore!!! It's not what you think! Yes, it's unorthodox but at the same time it's revolutionary!

Don't be a wuss, try it then decide!

This is truly a breakthrough, but one I would not bet my skin on.

You my friend, are a brave, brave man. I'm putting some after shave balm on right now because my skin got irritated just from me reading this post.

Even using a DE, I think my face and neck would get brick house red.

I think I will give it a go also and see if it could work on the small trouble spots that keep BBS for me in the holy grail category.

For the buffing the trouble spots I just use water (no lather) with short, light quick strokes. It wasn't something I thought about - I used to do that more than 25 years ago...I just found myself doing it on 'autopilot'...lol

Well Jim, I can offer a little (very little) support on this. My dad was a tough ol' fart (back when men were men!). He shaved after his shower with a Tach Fat Handle. He did not use any lotions, oils, lather, after shave - nothing! He kept his face & razor wet with water during the shave & nothing else. And he always had a BBS.

Okay, the down side - He did get some gushers occasionally, indicated by the tell tale toilet paper patch(s). Not always, but at least 2~3 times per week.

I dry shaved with my twin blade with decent results, & never a nick or weeper. But DE dry shaving, huh-uh, no way Jose, ain't happening. Well, I might give it a try sometime, just because dad did.

Its nothing new and I have been doing spot dry buffing and touch ups for 40 years. Cleaned off a missed spot yesterday.

Ive done wtg passes dry more times than I can count too. My daddy did it too. No big deal.

Haha, don't think my aftershave balm would help too much with this! Imagine rubbing in an alum block!!
