Red Tip color

Some BBers have deemed the Red Tip color to be International Harvester Red. I have just bought some Krylon brand stuff and tried it out. The results, IMHO, are far too bright compared to pictures of Red Tips on eBay as well as those unpainted ones that I have. Has anyone else found this to be the case? I am also experimenting with a color that is far closer to what the Red Tips look like today. I'm just not sure which color is more "authentic."

Maybe the color dulls and darkens over 50+ years like we all do. But I was wondering who made this color determination? What was the source?

i use red finger nail polisgh too

I use a different krylon. Burgundy Rust preventative enamel.

The shades are not consistent from one razor to another though. The age, degree of use, and batch it was made in all matter.
I have a NOS red tipped Rocket and it has a darker color than any original red tip that is American made.
