Default Perhaps the greatest example of a Scottish Tam O'Shanter

Just got this yesterday. It is now the most beautiful stone I own. It's unbelievable in person, the pictures don't do it justice. The lines are striking and the overall coloring is really something else.

I've been told it's somewhere between 6-10k, but I haven't used it yet. Will wait for the weekend to give it a shot...I don't have any non-shave ready blades so I'll dull one just to check it out.

    Enjoy!

Just because it's sharp, does not mean it's smooth.

    Incredible! Very, very beautiful stone.

Enlighten me, what kind of use is this for? Pre-finisher or...

It's somewhere around 8k, so yes pre finisher. I plan on using it before a water-only coticule, which is before my YG Escher, which is before my Charnley.

That is indeed a beautiful looking stone.
If somethings important you'll find a way, if not you'll find an excuse.

Smooth and lapped all the way across. No abnormalities in texture, just looks.

That's a pretty stone but it doesn't look like a ToS. I have no idea what it is. I think I saw this stone or one like it at Ebay a couple weeks ago.

You're right, it doesn't look like a typical run of the mill ToS. But I'm 100% positive it is a ToS, just a very nice one. I bought it from a guy who has dealt in hones for years, particularly in UK stones, and this was the nicest example he had ever seen (he has had others with similar patterns, though.

Very pretty stone, doesn't look like any TOS, WOA, or Dalmore I've ever seen - that is just a striking pattern.

I looked up the stone I saw in my watch list and it also looks infested by tiny worms like yours :D

That would be another ToS. I was told that the more exemplary stones have the "worms" as you call them, while more common have more dark speckled looks. I chose mind because I loved the change in overall color that went through it as. That's a beautiful stone too, I love the coffin box.
