Default Need some tips on getting my Kami shave ready

Ok so I am trying to get my ebay Kami back into shaving form and here is the result.Click image for larger version.

As you can see the ends got some attention but the middle is no where to be found! Now I don't have a perfect shave ready blade. But it does remove some hair on the ends but not in the middle. I'm applying light pressure to keep the whole blade on it. I'm afraid of this turning into a smiling kami ( not the good kind). I am replicating Carter cutlery's system of honing -->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTV4ph1LE3c . My guess is to place a finger in the middle and spend more time setting the bevel. Yes I know I can send it out to a pro but its $11 from abroad just to send it out ( almost as much as each hone!!), but I know I can get this since I already got some hairs off my body ( I have a patch of missing hair on my left thigh!). I'm waiting on a coticule coming from another member, but for now I want to stay with this setup and just get some advice or tips from anyone here. I'll worry about the finish and comfort level later. I have Larry's Whipped dog poor mans set, in addition to a King 1000, 6000 grit stones.

    Hey congrats on the Kamisori!

Don't just put more pressure on the thing as it wont do anything more than wear down your razor even more. How does the otherside look?

It looks like the shoulder is contacting the hone too? Depending on the grind you may need to physically "twist" the edge into the stone, or lift one side higher than the other.

I think I have a honing thread in my sig link...

Here is the other side. I have watch the honing videos on youtube and so on. I just don't know why the middle part isn't making any contact. Click image for larger version.

No, it shouldn't matter. I'll try and post pics after work. I wonder if the guy before you ground down the edge or something? It is unusual that the middle doesn't contact on both sides.

I have a flattening stone to solve that problem. I don't want to do anything till I can have some sort of plan of attack to solve this.

Ok so first thing is to lap your stone.

Then sharpie the bevel and the spine on both sides then run it lightly a few times on your hone and post pics of both sides. Depending on how the ink wears off should help to figure out what's going on with it.
