What fougere frags do you like?

After I received some clarification on what a "fougere" fragrance is from some members a while ago, it turns out I like a few of them. So far I like Rive Gauche Pour Homme, Azzaro Pour Homme, and have mixed feelings on YSL Live Jazz. I will have to wear all of them some more still. I tried Kouros again as well and it officially nauseates me and I do not think I will be trying it again. I know a lot of people love it, but I cannot handle it.

What are some good fougere frags that you all like? Also, are fougere frags a thing of the past, or are new ones still made? It seems like a lot of them are from the 70's and 80's.

Edit: I know a thread on fougeres was started a few weeks ago. I did review it, but there were not many people chiming in. A lot of talk about Wild Fern. Anything else? Or do most people just not wear many fougeres?

Pen's English Fern (best)
Jean Charles Brosseau The Brun
Parfum de Nicolaï Carré d'As
Eau de L'Occitan Pour Homme
Accord Parfait Ambre & Lavande
Van Cleef & Arpels Tsar
Byredo Parfums Mister Marvelous
Truefitt & Hill Grafton

Comparing English Fern and Grafton is like apples and oranges. Fougere group is very diversified and the word means nothing to me but it still draws my attention. I like a lot of herbal and/or spicy scents. Fougeres usually are that too. If it doesn't have the wrong spices, has nice fresh opening and not too sweet, it's most probably going to be a winner for me. After English Fern, which is in it's own league, I'd recommend you to try Eau de L'Occitan PH and then try Villoresi's Uomo (not a fougere) to see what I mean. Maybe it doesn't have to be a fougere.

Trumpers Wild Fern.

Penhaligon's also now makes Sartorial, which is a modern take at a fougere. I'm wearing it today but honestly I vacillate between sort of liking it and sort of hating it.

LOL I feel same way about Sartorial. Love/hate.

English Fern is good. So is invasion Barbare (expensive).

Cartier Roadster is awesome to me but it's one of those you will either like or hate it seems polarizing.

Rive Gauche excellent but to me poor sillage.

Azzaro smells dated to me.

Any thoughts on Caron Third Man? I have tried it and do not know what to think. One second I like it, the next I don't. I am worried it may offend people around me as it is such a potent and unique smell (to my nose at least). I also get sort of a cigarette smoke smell in it.

I love fougeres. I like almost anything I can think of that is a rather pure fougere, such as Pens EF, vintage Houbigant, Brut, Azarro, Crown. The first two are absolutely classic, very pure, and, to me, truly out of this world frags. GFT Wild Fern is not as good ad EF to me, but many feel the opposite. Pens Sartorial is not quite as pure as EF, but I think it is great.

Otherwise, fougere with all of its variations is a fundamental type of edt. There are so many that to me it does not help much as a classification!

Great scent! Nothing wrong with your nose based on your notes! Just go easy on it as far as offending other people.

So you smell the smoke in it too? I also seem to smell a lot of moss, even maybe some dirt? Some greens too. It seems like a super natural fragrance. Not natural meaning the materials used to make it......but natural meaning the smell of nature.

It's on the pricey side, and most will say it's not nearly as good as the vintage version, but I like the new Houbigant Fougere. It's very easy to wear in any setting, including in close quarters in an office.
