    Default deodorant buildup on shirts.

OK so I have one shirt in my collection that in all good conscience should have been tossed a decade ago but I have an attachment to it.

Never had this problem in any other shirt but I have a white powdery build-up from deodorant (or more likely the result of anti-persprant sticks at some point in the past).

Call me a noob on the subject but I have never done anything with clothes other than normal laundry and the dry cleaners... is there a good way of scrubbing it fresh??

Use a product such as Napisan or Preen (powdered stain removers in AUS) to form a paste that you can apply to the specific site and let it soak, then wash as normal.

borax, soda ash(washing soda) and some laundry soap.
look a the end of the soap aisle.
1/2 cup borax, 1/2 cup washing soda, 1/2 the dose of Tide, or whatever detergent you use. Throw that all in the washing machine.
That's how you really get clothes clean. Brightens colors, gets out stains, cures cancer.

There was a study done on this not too long ago and oxyclean was found to work best for these stains, soak it for a bit then wash like normal

I had this problem and ended up just throwing the shirts out. I did figure out that if I put my deodorant on right out of the shower then do everything else it had time to dry and did not get on my shirt.

+1 on the oxyclean soak. Also, this might be useful: http://artofmanliness.com/2012/04/03...armpit-stains/

Also, they now made deodorant that doesn't stain shirts. (Nivea...)

I've used Oxyclean with good results in the past. I would soak the shirts overnight, and then wash them ... that's a longer soak than the directions call for, but "in for a penny, in for a pound", I guess.
Be there or be square. Only I can do both!
I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.

I definitely recommend the overnight soak as others have mentioned, it works great.
