Default Looking for the best vintage NOS double-edge blades, Recommendations?

Forgive me if this has been covered already...but I'm looking for vintage NOS DE blades that are carbon steel, and can be resharpened. Looking for recommendations on which old blades would work best. Also, any advice of sharpening old blades. I'm approaching this as a fun hobby and learning experience, not to save money.

    Thanks.

I'm a big vintage blade-hound. I's suggest some Gillette Super Blue Blades. They're carbon. I've got a mess of 'em, too, and could certainly part with some. The edges have degraded, somewhat, so they don't shave very well. As for sharpening, I'll have to let someone else chime in.

Now, to answer the question in the subject line -- my "best" is the Gillette Platinum Plus, from the 70s, in the metal dispensers. (It's a stainless blade.) I spent a fair amount of time and money pulling enough together to weather the shavepocalypse, but they are -=faboo=-.

Chet, how many platinum pluses do you think are enough to weather the shavepocalypse?

I stopped after something like 1200. They don't make 'em anymore, and I can always unload 'em. I found a guy on the 'bay that was flush with 'em, and we struck a deal.

One can never possess too many Platinum-Plusses, even if i prefer the Schick Plus Platinum slightly over the period Gillettes.

The prices on eBay can be outrageous; nevertheless, sometimes one can negotiate a sensible deal on a bigger stash. Are they worth their extra value compared to, say, Polsilvers or other reasonably available good blades? Maybe not. But who cares?
