    Default My 1st official PIF

The theme for this one is based on good deeds. I would like to know about a good deed that you performed, which was totally out of the blue, and what provoked you to do it. Big or small...any good deed should not go unnoticed. The other catch is that you cannot already have tried own a Single Edge Razor. The honor system applies. These are the rules...plain and simple. Canada or CONUS please. I don't have a preference on the number of posts you have, or whether or not you are a contributor. I will pick a winner on May 4th. Please start your post with "No good deed should go unnoticed" to be included in the PIF.

Ok gents and ladies....here's what you're playing for

    - GEM Flying Wing Goldtoned SE razor
    - a couple of GEM SE blades
    - 1 unused tube of KMF shave cream in Key Lime scent

No good deed should go unnoticed, but I really don't see it as a deed, just more of going along with the situation. I started my terminal leave from the Air Force right after 9/11. I was stationed in Okinawa at the time. I ended up being on the first international flight coming back to the states and landing in Seattle. Once I got to the states, the airports were crazy with all the flight cancellations.

Well after spending the first night back in the hotel, the next day my flight was suppose to leave from Seattle. I didn't. I, along with almost the entire airport, was on standby. You start talking to those that have been waiting along side you all day, getting to know little stories about each other. I had my mandolin, so I was playing (not well) for everyone. Anyway, after 2 days in the airport, my number was called and I could finally get a ticket. I really cant recall for what reason, but I decided to let one of the ladies who had been waiting to go on and claim my spot. I knew that I would eventually make it home. It took me about a week before I did make it. I flew standby all over, trying to get closer back to MS.

    Damn, over 10 years ago.

Great idea and generous PIF, so here's my story (I'm afraid it doesn't compare to wcoppage's) anyway:

The other day I was at the grocery store in front of a woman with her little baby, probably 6 months old. I only had a couple items compared to her overflowing cart. Anyway, her baby was very upset and she was trying to calm her down. Being a new dad myself I understood her predicament. I paid for my items, set them aside and unloaded her cart for her so she could pick up and comfort her little one. It wasn't a big deal, probably took 3 minutes of my day, but she had a look of relief when I offered. Not much, but it made me feel good for the rest of the day, hopefully it improved hers as well.

Great PIF! A very similar idea by the Captain is what started me on this board.

No good deed should go unnoticed...

It was a small thing really, but it meant the world to these two people standing on the side of the road. My wife and I were driving down the road after picking up some food from a fast-food restaurant (not the best choice, but I digress) and we saw two people standing there with what seemed like all they possessed in backpacks and holding signs up saying something along the lines of, "Need money or food. Starving." We never gave it a second thought and asked them if they wanted some burgers and fries (duh, of course they would, but we're polite people). As we handed over the food, the look on their faces were priceless and they started jumping up and down and thanked us as we drove away. Warm feelings were had and we regretted nothing from it.

No good deed should go unnoticed..
I have owned a SE but never used it, I got it as part of a newbie package I bought but PIF'ed it away along with the Injector and just kept the DE since I would focus on one thing at a time.

I was working at a Lube shop through my highschool years when I met one of the most friendly and caring people, his name was Sardule and was from overseas. He couldn't speak much English but understood it perfectly. He had been working at this lube shop for 6-7 years and had an impeccable safety record. One lunch he approached me and asked me what I did. I told him I was getting into engineer at the University and he told me about his life. I learned that he had 2 daughters and a stay at home wife. He wasn't making very much at this job but this was the only job he could get. A few days later he told me he had his class one driver license but couldn't drive trucks anymore because of his family. I searched through the newspaper to try to help him out, but eventually found a city transit driver posting. He applied and was accepted but failed the English portion of the exam. So I made it my lunch time job to get him the job before I was finished there. I tutored him every lunch 6 days a week for 4 months in English without accepting or wanting anything in return. The second last week of my job there, he comes and shakes my hand with a beaming smile and tells me he got accepted. He starts work in 2 months where he'll make a ton more money and be able to provide for his family. Fast forward four years, I was sitting at a bus shelter reading my textbook in the last year of university for finals when he shows up as my bus driver. He instantly recognizes me and beams a huge smile, gives me a hug and a hardy handshake. His English has vastly approved and he is doing better than ever. This is one of those nice things that just worked out better than I thought.

Great PIF and thanks, dunno if I am eligible or not. If not always happy to share my story :)

"No good deed should go unnoticed"

About two weeks ago my father had bought a new hot water heater. He was considering paying someone to install it, thought it would be easier. Him and myself are handy so I told him I'l like to come over and install it with him. We spent about 3 hours and 2 beers completing the job (and two trips to the hardware store). It was a fun time. Story gets a little more interesting though:
My dad had started shaving with a DE some time ago. So as a gift he ordered me my first DE razor and a soap bowl from Classic Shaving. Before this I had always been using a straight razor, but I struggled to use it regularly. I used a Mach 3 most days per week. The recent gift of a DE razor kind of rejuvenated my interest in wet shaving. I still like my straight but I'm really having a fun time with the DE.
So now we have something in common and talk shaving with each other. Just recently I gave him some Bay Rum AS and a little Castle Forbes shaving cream to try out. I'm always willing to help people, but this time it was especially gratifying to get such a nice gift.

Sweet PIF! I've got 7 SEs, including a Flying Wing, so I guess I'm disqualified.

No good deed should go unnoticed..

My wife is a teacher, and every year she goes to camp ("outdoor classroom") for 1 week. She sleeps in a cabin, chases 6th graders around, eats cafeteria food, and generally lives outdoors. Every year for the past 6 years we've been married, I take a day off from work and clean the entire house top to bottom: bathrooms, sheets, vacuum, mop, on and on. She comes home on that Friday and enjoys the clean house.

I used to own an SE (1912), but it didn't hold the blade in correctly and ripped me up pretty good.

    Moderator,
can you delete this post? I don't know about the rest of you, but if my bride sees this, then I will be on the cold side of the bed for a year.

Seriously though, you are a good man.

Nice PIF and for a great reason. There are always ways to pass on good to those whom are just down on their luck. Could be simply holding the door for a mom with two kids struggling to get into the store. Or helping an elderly lady at the grocery store reach the item on the top shelf. My favorite is to return the good deed which has been bestowed on me several times. Being on Active Duty and having to travel in uniform, several patriots have purchased my meal with my knowlege. So in return my wife and I do the same. We don't just pick out service members. We usually find a young family with little children and pick up their meal. I know how it feels when you ask for you check and the server said, you bill has been paid.

Looking back over my life there have been too many "good deeds" sent my way for me not the let them go with out being paid forward. I don't it for the attention but it is the just the right thing to do.
