new slant user

I recently purchase a merkur slant . Im loving it getting closer shaves with way less effort , passes and getting bbs with no irritation , with my SE razors , HD and ej89l I can easily get dfs but when I went for bbs I would get irritation on my neck half the time ( neck hair swirls pointing everyway it can) . Ive only used on blade type in it Bic plats and 3 beautiful effortless shaves no irritation no weepers . This thing is sort of a Rad killer .Also suprising me as no tool marks or other merkur quality issues the razor was flawless as well .

Not at all aggressive. A member said it was like an Aristocrat and they were right. Smooth shave.

slant is not aggressive, slant is very effective, smooth & effective.
I loaded mine with iridiums, polsilvers, sharks, gillette extra, feathers and get a perfect shave everytime, this is my favourite razor, no doubbt with that and it keeps you blades alive for 5/6 shaves in 3 passes, a must have.

The Slant is an efficient razor, I like using the 37C.

Don't think for one minute that the RAD is dead. I've said that about about 6 or 8 razors ago.

I had an older Hoffritz slant and it was fairly aggressive, It was slightly different than the newer model I picked up on ebay. I shaved with the newer one this morning and it is unbelieveably smooth. Think I have a new go-to razor. It gave me perhaps the closest shave I have had, with zero irritation.

Not really, it is pretty intuitive once you get one in your hand.

I only have a half dozen shaves on my new HD slant and feel the same way. My neck loves the new slant

The slant is an excellent razor, and should not be feared at all. Just use it like any other DE.

I'm on my third slant, having owned the barberpole and the regular slant in the past. Of those other two, I didn't care for either, and that was because I wasn't using them the correct way. After being away from the slant for over 2 years, I decided to give it another try. After doing enough research on their use, I found that just shaving with the slant as I'd shave with a regular DE, and backing way off on the pressure, left me with excellent results, and a renewed respect for the razor.

It is my favorite razor, after trying many. Smooth, consistently close, without nicks, minimal passes. What else could I ask for? So far, my favorite blades in the slant are Astras.

I don't know about this razor killing RAD, but it's coming close. I have since picked up 2 SE's that I hoped would be awesome, and I was astonished with 2 things: 1.) How effective these razors were, but 2.) How much I still really liked my Sledgehammer more.

YMMV as they say.

I have both the 37c and 39c and will continue to use both. My blade angle is probably a little shallow at maybe 20 degrees but I really don't dwell on angles. Put the slant on your face and feel and hear the proper angle. I always get BBS with no irritation using one of 4 blades: Astra SP, Feather, Red IP, and 7'Oclock yellows.

Not owning a slant (yet) I did wonder the following: is there a problem using a slant when you are left handed?
I figured it could be a problem since the blade is on an angle and one side is more exposed than the other that this razor is designed with right handed people in mind.
