Look no further... While potassium alum works for my face after shaving, alum mineral salts irritate my arm pits. So I was in search of a non alum equivalent.

I use the Body Shop roll-on deodorants. They use volcanic minerals instead of alum salts. I think they work their best if after rolling them on you take a moistened fingertip and dip it in baking soda and then rub it in with the roll-on. It worked for me well last summerwhich was the hottest summer on record where i live.

I've been using the eShave Alum block as a deodorant for about 4 weeks now and it works as well as the conventional drugstore deodorant I've used for years. It's not been tested yet in hot weather though, so more is to be learned.

i use a crystal, it works like alum bars, or you can try herban cowboy it has a nice scent and its now a maximum protection.
I'm using Crystal Rock Chamomile & White roll-on deodorant. It's effetive, as long as you don't sweat alot.
What would be the best route to take if you do sweat a lot?

if you want to go the natural route then get some powder like gold bond. natural deodorants don't do much for those who sweat a lot.

I tried the Crystal brand of stick today. They sell it at Whole Foods. I thought it was not going to work, because it felt like it was dry when I tried to apply it. But later, I worked outside in the yard and built up a sweat with no stink. The package also claims that it lasts a year. I think we have a winner!
Not exactly the same, but it works for me - Botanical Therapeutic Liquid Crystal Deodorant:

I just switched to this: http://kissmyface.com/product/item/126
I guess it's just water with potassium alum. Haven't been using it long, but it seems to be doing the job. None of the smells appealed to me so I went with unscented. Considering adding a drop of some kind of essential oil to give it a hint of scent. Anyone know it this would work?
I change deodorants every-time.. i purchase new brands deodorants.. but i would suggest to use natural deodorants to eliminate odor that are aluminium free.

They claim that there is a big difference between natural occuring and chemical aluminium.
"These stones — sometimes called by one of their trade names, Thai Sticks — are large, smooth crystals of potassium alum (potassium aluminum sulfate).
Potassium alum is a naturally occurring form of aluminum salt. The difference between potassium alum and aluminum chlorohydrate is that potassium alum
is a much larger molecule, not thought to be absorbable through human skin. Wet the stone and apply it like a conventional roll on. Rinse and set it aside to dry.
That's it."
I always used potassium alum and must say that it is the best deodorant ever.
I've had great success with Weleda deo spray. Its deodorant only, no antiperspirant. And it smells great. I use lemon/lime. http://usa.weleda.com/natural-produc...deodorant.aspx
Should be available at your local natural foods store at prices much lower than what you see on that website. Amazon has it too.

Wow, that is totally not even vaguely resembling ANYTHING I have ever known to be referred to as Thai Sticks. *LMAO*
Personally what I've found works best for me is that Old Spice stuff that's like sort of a paste you mash up through the holes in the top of the container. Before when I was in AZ I had found a deodorant that worked great, it was made with a lichen which actually ate the odor causing bacteria in your pits. It worked pretty well at cutting odor, but between the fact that it did NOTHING to control sweating and it's damn near impossible to find (I haven't seen it in a store since) I didn't bother with it again. The Old Spice no matter the flavor smells better than stinky pits and is an antiperspirant to boot.
