My newly purchased mug slipped out of my wet, soapy fingers and landed roughly on my vanity. I now have a crack that is starting to get bigger with each shave.

I seem to be having the most success bowl lathering, and I am interested in a scuttle. I know that there are several threads showing respective scuttles from the main sources (I believe Georgetown and Dirty Bird are the two most prominent), but my question is do some of the lesser-known potters (a couple on eBay, Etsy, local folks) produce something of the same quality? I guess I'm worried that if I try to save a few bucks and buy something online without having to wait for lead time will I end up with something not as effective (thinner walls that don't hold the heat as well)...
