Default Recommend a Brush for Traveling for Me.

Gentlemen of B&B, here is my humble request:

I am asking for recommendations for a travel brush. Pertinent information is as follows:

    1. My limited experience has indicated that I prefer badger over boar. (Rooney Small - Style 3 with Pure Badger is my current brush. I have given some thought to making this my travel brush and buying another one for home use. )
    2. I will be using this brush for face lathering with sticks (currently Tabac), as I don't want to carry or find a bowl or mug to lather upon reaching my destinaton(s).
    3. I will be using a Dopp traditional-type kit to carry all my toiletry and tonsorial equipment. (If interested in the actual kit, here is a link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00 . I don't have it in my possession yet, but one is on it's way even as I type this out.)
    4. My thoughts are I would prefer a more traditional style handle on the brush, not a "travel brush" that uses the tube for the handle.
    5. Cost, while always a concern, is not a primary consideration. On the other hand, I'm not going to pay several hundred dollars for this brush either. Say <$100 is ballpark.

Pictures would be helpful, but I am capable of "googling" when necessary if enough information is given.

Thanks in advance for any and all pieces of advice and/or recommendations.

Simpson Berkeley. Small enough for travel; large enough for home use. Traditional handle; famed Simpson best hair. Great for face lathering. For $100 you can probably get two!

I have the brush linked above in my Dopp Kit. It comes with the hard case, but you don't use the case as part of the handle. It lathers like a champ and after using it for going on two years I've not had any issues with shedding. I own 2 boars, 2 badgers, and 1 horse that are in rotation in my den and this thing lathers as well as any of them.

The Omega 47. I think it might actually be smaller than the Wee Scott! Plus, at <$15, it won't break your heart or wallet if it gets lost.

Since you prefer badger, I'll throw in a vote for Wee Scot and/or Case.

I like my T&H turback traveller. It's not very expensive and the super badger lathers like a champ. You can use it with or without the protector handle.

Wee Scot or Duke 1. Both will fit a Simpsons travel case. Google 'travel brush' and you'll find quite a few B&B threads on this very subject. Usually easier than starting your own, no offence intended.

Omega Mighty Midget 40033 with Simpson Travel Case.

I got rid of my Wee Scot. Too small for me to hold comfortably.

Any brush you like with a mildly modified pill bottle readily available from any pharmacy. I can fit the following into the same Rx bottle:
    Simpson Colonel
    Semogue 1800
    Omega 11126
    Vulfix 1000a (currently for sale)
    Vie Long 13710 (ditto)
    Vie Long 13610 Zurito
....and a couple of other various brushes not as well known.

Moral? Just get the bottle; nothing else required

The Wee is sitting in my travel bag, right next to me, as I type, along with a stick of La Toja. In my opinion, the perfect travel pairing!

Simpson Classic 1 is the largest Simpson knot that will fit in the travel case. Mine is in transit so I can't comment on the performance but its supposed to be very similar to a Chubby. Thus its up to the task as a travel or everyday home brush.

    Another Vote for the Case.

Incidentally I tried the Muhle travel brush. It was a great idea, but the "Pure Badger" was way to skritchy for me (and I like Simpson Brushes)

WS. Small, but powerful. I use it in my regular rotation and for travel.

The Wee One is on its way from WCS as we speak. I bought it for travel, but haven't used it yet. Off topic a bit - If you are looking for an aftershave balm for your travel kit try 444. I really like it, plus it comes in a small metallic tube like a travel size toothpaste. It won't break, spill or leak in your kit.

There is a Simpson Major (turnback style) on the B/S/T right now - problem solved.

for what its worth: I bought the Frank's Shaving knockoff of the Simpson Major (in Finest badger, but they have the silvertip, too) for less than $30
