Default Any CONUS prison officers out there?

Hello all, I have for the last 9 years worked in British prisons as an officer (or Guard, Warder, Correctional officer if you prefer) and have always been told by the convicts how crappy the prison issue shaving equipment is. Most of them prefer to buy mach 3/fusion carts and canned goo. Since my conversion to DE I wondered how poor the shave quality of this stuff actually is. So I assembled the standard issue kit:

    several single bladed disposable razors
2x bars of White Windsor 'buttermilk' soap
A very suspect and dodgy looking brush
    A prison issue plastic bowl.

I must say I did manage a very decent shave, not quite BBS but most decent, far better than I was expecting. and i found out that the soap used is a triple milled affair that with a crown logo stamped into it sells for £10ish in Harrods

So are there any CONUS Officers out there that wanna gather some of their prison issue kit, and do a swap and compare our countries prison shave gear.

if get in touch and let me know

    Cheers

    JD

What? No standard issue straights? That's odd...

Maybe you could teach them to properly shave. Could you whip up a lather for us? I worked as a CO for a while, they didn't get brushes and soaps.

It seems reasonable to give prisoners a brush and soap. They're just about the most harmless thing on the planet. No sharp points or edges, no compressed gasses.

I am also a Prison Officer in the Uk and have been for the last 26 years. Prisoners were issued with a shaving stick which was about 4 inches long and made of tallow years ago when I joined the job but now at my Prison (Parkhurst) they get issued with shaving gel. The shaving stick was pretty good stuff and I would love to get my hands on some now to try it. The brushes are still tat and the disposable razors can unfortunately have the head opened and the blade used for self harming and melted into a toothbrush handle, which I am sure the OP will agree and create a nasty weapon which we see used far too often.

I'm not too far from you 'Lewes' I havent seen any shaving sticks since i was at Elmley and even then they werent getting any more, I tried to get our stores to order some but they said no as they would have to order 2000 and the budget wouldnt allow it.

I agree with the blades being nasty melted into handles, especially when two are used!

Those razors look just like the ones we get for med prep on the Ambulances (NHS) As with everything NHS related we're told that they're ONE use only!!!
