That is in pretty amazing condition.

The wonderful thing about ebay, sometimes you get a real gem when you didn't expect it.

I dont know if Id be able to sell this. I may buy another, that's not as nice just to see if this type of razor suits me. I'm only a few months into straights, and only ever tried my friends wosty, as far as sheffields go, that's a similar shape and grind. But I really didn't know how to shave with a straight back then, and Im still learning

I know how you feel. I bought a Sheffield razor of similar vintage once, from bad photos, just because the price was right. When it showed up NOS my first reaction was I had been conned and sent a modern copy of some sort. How could a razor that is around 100 years old still have paint in the blade etching??? But I guess it had just been sitting in optimal conditions, and no one had a chance to mess it up.

FWIW, I still haven't honed or shaved with it. I can't bring myself to do it. It's a sickness.

I seriously dont know if I can bring myself to hone it just yet David, so I can relate...Maybe Ill reward myself, being that Im a new straight shaver, on my Year anniversary of straight shaving, if Ill have her honed up an reward myself with a shave..At least by then, Ill know enough to appreciate it, and I wont be making rookie mistakes, like dropping the thing, and banging it on the faucet!! I measn, I know its no Mastro Livi, or Damascus thingamagigee, but honestly,Id rather have this. I love the fact that this blade is as old as it is, and made it this long and far, looking so pretty...Sort of like the Sophia Loren or Raquel Welch of razors...

Cool. You know I just today got around to honing and shaving with the first razor I owned? No rush with these things. Look after them and they will outlast you.

Good thing the seller is horrible at photography, that baby would have fetched a ton of mula.

I have seen razors like that go for $$$. Great find. I don't know what I would do in your shoes (to use it or not). It looks like the best one I have seen yet. I real collectors piece.

I would maybe have it appraised and have a pro give you advice on using it or not. It may not be as rare as some others but these W&B's bring some serious attention on the aution sites sometimes getting close to 100 bids.

Whatever you do good luck and enjoy!

Believe me, I dont know how he took those shots...But, boy am I happy he cant shoot a proper photo!!

And to think about a week or so ago, I almost won THIS thing accidentally, for $350, because I just idiotically set a high bid, and left it, thinking no one would go over $100-$120 anyway !! Somebody outbid me on this one!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/320892620522...#ht_500wt_1289

Here is a little exchange I had with the seller, before I sent payment, because I was concerned about the rust.....

    "Hi,

I won your W&B straight razor..I saw it toward the end of bidding, and didnt have time to look over the photos, until after I won it..Im noticing on the non etched side of the blade, what looks like rust on the blades edge..Or is that just the light/reflection in that photo? Please let me know..I would like to have this honed for my personal use, and if its rust, it seems to be on the blades edge, which is no good for me..............."

    His Response:

"Any discoloration was the result of camera and light. It shows no signs of any rust. I never thought it would be bought for anything other than a collectible, but it is in new condition and appears to fit your needs."

5 Stars!! Top Notch Communication!!! Excellent Ebayer!!
