I don't. I shave off the mustache and stubble on the cheeks.

    Shave #9

    Razor: Dovo "Solingen Best Quality"
    Brush: Stubby badger
Soap: Fitjar Såpekokeri Folgefonn Shaving Soap
    Lather: Bodum Yellow cup
After shave: Alum, Biotherm Homme Ultra Confort balm
Strop: Whipped Dog Poor Man's strop

I had a shower, then washed my face thoroughly in warm water, while steeping my brush and washcloth in the sink.

Lather: I primed the brush thoroughly after steeping it in hot water, then lathered, got quality lather straight off the bat.

    Passes:
    First Pass: WTG
Second Pass: XTG - Ear to Mouth
Third Pass: XTG - Mouth to Ear

In between passes, I worked the lather, to make sure that it was always thick and creamy.

Emptied wash basin, then filled it with cold water. Washed off lather, then dunked my face three times for a total of about 25-30 seconds. Dried off, dabbing the shaven area. Applied alum and after shave balm, then stropped the blade.

    Result: DFS

Lesson learned: My dad's old badger hair brush is an amazing performer, and I will bring it into my rotation for sure. The Dovo blade is a great little thing, easy to use, and performs well.

Great journal Razumny! I especially like your "lesson learned" section in each post. I'm going to incorporate this into my journal in order to more clearly capture go-forward improvements. Thanks for posting your journal and happy shaving to you sir.

Thanks for that Tom. I find it also helps me to see how I am improving, even though I don't note that specifically on all the posts.

    Shave #13

    Razor: George Ibberson Sheffield Straight
    Brush: Simpson Wee Scot
Soap: Fitjar Såpekokeri Folgefonn Shaving Soap and Proraso Shaving Cream Green Tube

After shave: Alum, Biotherm Homme Ultra Confort balm

    Result: DFS

Lesson learned: While I found the George Ibberson to be daunting when I first got it, the practice with narrower blades has paid off, and I am far more confident with the wide blade now.
