Bruce, can you compare it to the Simpson two band? We basically have the same brush, and I can say it is much softer than the Simpson 2-Bands I have tried.
Amir
So I'm pretty interested in one of these, however I have no idea about sizes, knots, bands, etc....I'm new. Lol Would Lee help me with this, or can I get some help from you guys?
If you're new and don't know what you like, it's going to be hard for anyone to make a good recommendation. What is your current brush? Then ask yourself the following questions:
- What don't I like about my current brush?
- What do I like about my current brush?
- Do I wish the knot was smaller or larger?
- Do I want a brush that has more stiffness to the hair or less?
- Do I like soft tips or some scritch?
If you don't have a brush yet and are trying to get a custom brush made, then you should probably start with a good, solid-performing brush as your first brush. This way, you can develop preferences for your brushes and it will help you narrow down what you want in a brush.
There are a lot of good starting brushes that you can get for $50 or less.

AABCDS: That's what I'm thinking too. I was initially going to go with a Simpson Duke 2 or X2L, so maybe I'll stick with that till I figure things out. Thanks
I've read that the Duke is a great brush. I've never had one as I prefer longer handles on my brushes. Another brand of brushes to take a look at is Thater. I held off getting one for a while but my first Thater, a 49125/0, really impressed me. It's the softest brush I'd tried yet. I now have five of them.

i'm going for 1 from each. i'm slowly getting there.
so far i've got a Thater, M&F and Semogue (a few boars) that i all love, but i still need to add a few more...Shavemac, Vie-Long, Simpson, Rod Neep, Semogue badger to name a few.
once i get 1 of each of the brands that i like, i'll start adding 2nd to my favorites.
