Default Groomsmen gifts (maybe shave related)

I'm getting married in July, and I have 6 goomsmen. I'm having a hard time finding a gift for them. I want it to be thoughtful and useful. I also what them to each have the same item. Two of the groomsmen don't drink so that cuts out any alcohol related item. I was thinking personalized cufflinks, but I'm pretty sure 3 out of six don't have the need for the cufflinks(besides the day of my wedding)

These guys do shave (when they aren't sporting a beard), so i was thinking of maybe getting them a DE in a personalized box. What do you think? At first i was thinking SE, but a good SE is over $100. I've got to buy 6 of these. DE's are a little bit cheaper.

if there are any other suggestions, let me know.

Green Light Jerky is a vendor here... I bought 1 pound bags for my groomsmen and 4 months later they're still calling me to tell how awesome it is... (Is it possible that Greenlight is better than Facebook at keeping people connected?)

I've gotten fountain pens as gifts before. One of them has actually outlasted the marriage by a good ten years.

You could ask Rudy Vey, a custom brush maker here about having 7 brushes engraved. You should keep one for yourself eh?

My bride did really nice custom spa robes for all of her Bridesmaids. I took a different route. I bought each one of my groomsmen a gift that reflected their personality. Had a little explanation of each one as I handed them out at the rehearsal dinner.

I got pocket watches for my groomsmen.
They were engraved with their initials.
Not super expensive, each one landed in around $50 each.
They came in a nice wooden box.

They were very impressed and happy to receive them.
Also, we were able to take some great pictures with them.

I had my own pocket watch and so did my best man.

EDIT: just another thought. Don't get something useless like a flask.
It will come in handy that one night then they'll lose it or never use it again (unless drinking on the go is their thing).
I apologize to anyone who gave flasks, but it's 2012 and it's just not cool anymore.

A DE with a stand for the razor and a brush would make very nice gifts. Not sure what your price limit is, but checking with the various vendors here at B&B might lead to some good deals. I think that would be a gift that would see regular use, as opposed to the cufflinks, key chains, etc. etc.

I got my guys pocket knives with their initials engraved. Another idea is to go to the site Etsy and look there. Tons of great ideas and all hand made.

I'll check out Etsy, but right now, i'm pricing out an EJ89 plus an AoS starter kit for each guy.

I'm going through a similar thing. I purchased shirts, ties, cufflinks, and suspenders for the groomsmen. I figured everyone needs a nice shirt at least.

Now I'm trying to find a little extra something for the best man. While I think a SE/DE kit would be great, I don't think they would actually use it. So I'm left trying to think of something else. I'm leaning toward a nice pen or pocket knife.

On a somewhat related note, what're you getting for the lucky bride? Or what have others done? I already gave her a Lady Gillette but I'm not sure if she's into it yet. I'd like to get something that will last a long time but is a nice daily reminder. I'm thinking of a nice brush since I figured that would be appreciated. Anyone have any recommendations?

I read an article about groomsman gifts a while ago and it said that gifts that the groomsman isn't in to isn't a good idea. As much as we all love it and swear by it, you're basically giving them a project. Most of us are here because we wanted to start and found a place for all of us to share experiences and ideas. I like the idea of giving them something that reflects their personalities.

I completely agree which is why I didn't get a wet shaving kit for anyone. I may consider getting a small personalized gift for each, like a nice scotch/beer/cigar.

I suggest a wrist watch. I just acquired a Citizen eco drive watch and very happy with it. Their line is so extensive, and along with the same sentiments as breadstick, you can find an individual watch to reflect your groomsmen's individual personalities with no problem. Modest $ and no battery replacement to boot. Best wishes!

There is a quite a bit to think about. My grooms men are so different. two of them don't drink. One doesn't eat meat. The watch is a good idea, but one guy wont go near a watch that cost less than 1k. There's one guy that I've never even seen wear a watch... Hmm, i do like the idea though. Citizen is a cool watch. So is Nixon. I'm into watches, inexpensive and otherwise... hmmm

I was thinking the Art of Shaving kit alone would be good. I shaved with that for a while before I started up with a DE. The bride and I are going to exchanged watches or fancy luggage for our wedding. We haven't decided. I know she really wants a Cartier Tank.

Is it usual for the bride and groom to exchange gifts? I've been in scads of weddings and I never heard of that before. I thought that the rings were the thing.

Honestly, skip the "everyone gets the same thing" idea. These guys are so far from "peas in a pod" that it just won't work. Give each man something individual, that shows you put some thought into what he likes and what he'd appreciate, rather than a generic "I guess you guys can all tolerate this" gift.

Just make sure you are clear that you spent about the same on each one of the guys (best man may be different) so there's no "you gave him something more expensive" thoughts.
Be there or be square. Only I can do both!

I went to a wedding once and the groom gave the groomsmen personalized poker sets. A nice set of personalized clay chips and a case shouldn't set you back too much...just an idea.

How about leather dopp kits? Nice ones, maybe with initials. They work for most folks, last, and even if they have one is unique

Just loose the multiblade. It isn't original, but I gave these to me groomsmen, some 30 years later I still get a glimpse once in a while of those kits ..
