TGN Finest Fan question

I have a pottery handle coming that has a 22mm opening and a 12-13mm depth. I am looking to put a TGN Finest XH fan into it but I'm not sure what size knot to get. I know the XH fine is a little bigger at the base of the knot than the bulb I have used in the past. Should I get a 20mm knot? Or will 22mm still work? Thanks!

In my experience, you will want the 20, the 22 will not fit.

Mike H is right. TGN measures at the base of the knot where the hair is set, but knots are produced with a "plug" a little bit above the base that helps keep hair separated, and it tends to be 2 or 3 mm larger in diameter than the base of the plug is.

A 22 will most definitely not fit, and unlike other materials there is no way to open a ceramic handle up any.
