Thread: Two-tone tech?

    Default Two-tone tech?

Was there ever a two tone Tech? I found this recently, and it doesn't look like the finish has worn off of the cap/tip of the handle. Any ideas?

If the top cap from the top is completely silver colored with no signs of gold plating it looks like it was a "transplant" from another Tech. Otherwise, it may be a tech with the gold plating buffed down to the nickel plating.

There were several two tone techs
There was the fat handle tech with the partially black handle.
I have a contract tech with a black metal handle and a gold head.
And I think there were techs with black plastic handles and gold heads.
There may be more I don't know about.

I've got the one's you mentioned and I'm a big "Tech Head" but I haven't seen one with this kind of two-tone.

The one in the OP you mean? No, haven't seen one like that either.
The box says gold plated tech so it doesn't seem logical it had been sold with a nickel plated top plate. Probably the top plate comes from another tech.

Now I see the middle part of the handle is also nickel plated. That's strange.

The middle part of the handle just looks worn to me - the gold wasn't very thick.

OK, but the techs had cheap gold plating, I thought I read somewhere there wasn't even any nickel plating under the gold?
