I'm in the camp that uses some pressure while stropping. I also don't try and pull the strop out of the wall with tension, a tad bit of slack doesn't hurt a thing imo.

I'm of the opinion that rolling the edge, if it does happen, does not come from using pressure or leaving some slack but from tilting the razor such that it runs along the edge of the strop. Remember, the same amount of force is being applied, but in that situation, the area is much smaller, so rolling is actually more realistically possible because of the increase pressure (force per area). But, as long as you don't mess up like that, I think there's a greater risk of not effectively stropping from using too little pressure.

This video totally changed my views on stropping. Before this video I thought 1mm of flex in the strop or an nanogram of pressure would roll and edge - ever since I strop with reckless abandon (and have had no issues with edge longevity, actually longevity has improved).

All I can say is that I myself would never choose to get a shave from that guy.

Yeah - pretty feckless. Strange though, but haven't I seen that tunic somewhere before? . Deja Vu or something....

That is white (pimp) stopping jacket! Good eye and memory

I might take a shave from this guy, but I hear he uses lapping film and Gold Dollars *gasp*

Joking aside, this video by Seraphim is a good example for speed/pace and pressure (who's your stropping daddy).

Of course it's dark, it's a suicide note.
