+1 for this. If she doesn't like the way YOU smell, then find a new SWILTDDUP. I had one who just plain didn't tolerate any chemical scents (including unscented products) but liked my scent. I had to switch to natural everything: soap, deodorant, toothpaste, witch hazel/alum, etc.

I got a bottle of Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve with my first wetshaving setup (my first non-store available aftershave/cologne).

And if we're talking about the same stuff...I have no idea how she considers this stuff too sweet. :P

I've never tried Special Reserve, but have read it is a pretty potent AS compared to the standard Clubman.

I agree that Tabac cologne smells awful-----I love Tabac aftershave though! It comes in such a big bottle, you could use it as cologne and STILL have plenty to splash on your face! I think the two smell worlds apart.

Skin Bracer (green) is as old-school manly as it gets, as well as Old Spice and regular Clubman. Musgo Real is awesome too. It sounds like there is something she doesn't like about a lot of AS's, so if it's that important to her, tell HER to shop for it and see what YOU think of it! This will keep her busy a long time, and in the mean time, keep on wearing the Clubman or whatever you want! :D

Ok, what about going the floral or citrus route? Plenty out there with those scents. Mystic Water Lavender Lime is one I highly suggest

Nah, she loves how I smell - this never came up until I started trying all these various soaps/aftershaves. And she doesn't really care what I do or use for shaving, but if I ask (since I want to smell good to her) then I usually get a "that's okay" kind of response. In other words, to avoid any negative connotations in this discussion, she is by no means a "nag," but since I love to please her I'm searching for product we can both enjoy. =) I'm sure I'll find the right one - shave cream/AS, that is! since I already found the right "one" - been married 14 years and loving every minute of it.

As another side note, she does like CK1 on me (not my fave), and also Curve Crush, Cool Water, etc...

The French made Gillette shave creme in Classica scent has that old fashioned barbershop smell. I really like it.

Regular Clubman and Special Reserve are totally different beasts. One is sweetish and floral, the other leathery and *very* manly indeed. good stuff, but not everyone's cup of tea.

I've gotten compliments from women on both Proraso and Floid blue after shaves.

A little more up market is Chanel Pour Monsieur after shave balm, which stops 'em in their tracks, in a good way.

Tell her to take those shoes off & get back in the kitchen, that ought to be manly enough for her!
Otherwise I might suggest cutting the clubman with some witch hazel. Personally I put that right up there with filters on Luckies*, but some people do it anyways. As with pretty much every other post on here, YMMV. *LOL*
