Default Notification when receiver is out of PM storage?

I know this is asking for a lot, just wondering since I spent quite a while today writing at least 2 PM's that weren't completely necessary, just spent the time writing them, and then the people I was sending to were out of PM space!

I get the lure of the contribution adding space as well and think that should stay as that costs money, literally. But I am wondering for us with space being good, we write a message and it can't go through, it gets frustrating! Any chance we could get a notice before sending a message that they are out of space?

I've never seen this before, just got pretty darn frustrated today trying to send a couple of messages to people with no space!

You could always send a test PM to check to see if that member has space but there's always the chance that the test PM fills that person's inbox.

That would be tough to implement in a flawless way, as it's a basically a race condition. Unless there is a lock placed on the other person's mailbox right at the moment that you send, it's always possible someone else is sending at the same time, and thus fills the mailbox. I doubt the vBulletin software implements that level of locking, but who knows. The admins will have to speak up on that.

Didn't think about that, at the very best I guess if they are being bombarded there is just about no way to alert you if it fills while you're writing the message.

I guess then for those that leave it full still it would help. Maybe it could lock us out from sending a message, won't be flawless but it would probably save some time.

Figure with test messages so often it would get REALLY annoying lol.

I think I need some tea, as this just zinged right over my head. I'm sure I'll get it here in a bit :)

A good habit to get into before posting a BST ad is to clear out your PM box (down to zero).

Should be as important as putting up pics of what you have for sale.

Have your sent PM's saved so you can cut and paste your original message and send it at a later date.
