    Default A decently priced strop

    Hello Gentlemen,

I was lucky enough to pick up a George Ibberson Sheffield Straight razor from one of our members, and am very much looking forward to seeing it. However, it occurs to me that a strop would be a good investment at this point.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a decently priced specimen?

I am considering a leather/linen one from Scrupleworks, 3" wide, but I am not decided, and any input you can give would be most welcome.

There are several options. What is your budget?

great prices and excellent customer service....
a nice walk in the woods helps me relax and relieves tension....

the fact i'm dragging a shovel and a body should be irrelevant...

SCruppleworks is said to be a good one. If you got the bones to dig it up, bounce on it.

If you're just getting started with straights you don't want to buy an expensive strop which you WILL nick while learning to strop. Look at a Whipped Dog Poor Man's strop kit http://whippeddog.com/products/view/poor-man-strop-kit or as paco664 said, a fairly inexpensive strop from Star Shaving.

I think I'll go for a poor man's strop kit. Looks like a good place to start, and the prices are very reasonable.

I just ordered some leather from Larry to make my own strop. He is great and the prices are very fair
