Without going into specifics, most multivitamins on the market are not very good. They are often made using cheap forms of vitamins (ineffective), overdosing quantities (poor absorption, potential long term overdosing), and being full of filler "proprietary blends" with minute amounts of ingredients that don't do much (aka overprieced). Multis are viewed as safe but really its a case of go big or go home with multis. As for the ones to go for:

    Best budget: NOW ADAM
Best bang/buck: Source Naturals Life Force (Iron free for males)
Higher end/multi-purpose: Controlled Labs Orange Triad (includes digestive and immune support, raising the cost)
Price is no object: AOR Orthocore (best multi on the market).

Note I do not sell supps, nor do I make any money in any way off these recommendations, just what a lot of research has uncovered.

If even the NOW ADAM is too pricey, consider taking half doses. Otherwise, just skip the multi altogether.

Pure Essence Labs One N Only Men's Daily. One pill (vs 2-3 for a serving) with tons of good stuff. Swanson Vitamins has a good price on it. Look at the ingredients and compare. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I've been using the generic meijer men's formula multivitamin for a while now and it has really helped me to have fewer and less severe colds. If I start sniffling, usually I missed two days of the vitamins around the same time a bug was going around. My colds haven't ended in the 2 week coughing fits either since I started. I don't feel like I have much other benefits like more energy or better skin or anything, but I would say it's worth it for me to take them if I get sick less often because of them.

By the way, I bought them when they were buy one get one free, so it was about like $5 for half a years worth or so.

(It looks like they changed the name on the bottle since i got it, but I believe it's this: http://www.meijer.com/s/meijer-ultim...unt/_/R-215381 ) Colon and prostate health is a nice bonus if it works. Hopefully I won't ever find out that it doesn't work!

Folks - you may want to check out the Clubhouse. There was a discussion recently about multivitamins, and it has been stickied.

I take Berocca Berry Effervescent Tablets. It really gives a boost of energy. It is a healthy way to get more vitamins and minerals.

+1 on the Berocca. I stock up whenever I go the the UK. I don't use them every day because I eat a lot of fruit and veg and don't feel the need, but when I'm feeling run down, tired, or close to catching a cold, i'll take Berocca for a couple of days. I very rarely (maybe once very couple of years) catch a cold now.

Controlled Labs Orange Triad - definitely worth a look. Very well regarded in the fitness and bodybuilding space.
The one thing to watch for in a men's multi is iron. You want to find something without it.

As I recall, Linus Pauling said he bought powdered Vitamin C as cheap as he could find it. His sentiments were that Vitamin C was Vitamin C. So, the mega doses he took was easier for him to take mixed with a glass of water...according to him.

    For me,
    • Centrum Silver (sigh)
    • Ultimate Flora - Senior Formula Probiotic- 30 billion Live Cultures version - Not Vitamin.(sigh again)
    • I walk 45 min. a day and take a bottle of water mixed with a powder pack of 'Emergen-C' and a lime slice 3 times a week.
(I like Tangerine Flav.1000 MG Vitamin C packs) It has electrolytes + minerals, antioxidants, and other vitamins, etc.
