    Wink Superlather University (Superlather U)

Since I have recently embraced Superlathering, I felt a dedicated thread was in order. I present to you: Superlather University or Superlather U for short. Feel free to discuss your Superlathering soap/cream combinations and techniques.

My first Superlather took place two days ago in which I combined MWF soap with T& H 1805 cream resulting in a wonderful BBS. The fragrance and performance was sensational! My razor was a DE 89 with Weber bulldog handle and Personna lab blade.

Today, my Superlather consisted of Razorock Artisan Caprician Lemon soap with Castle Forbes Lime cream. Words cannot describe how fantastic the scent and performance was! Another BBS.My razor was the Weber arc finish razor with Personna lab blade.

I really don't understand Superlather/Uberlather, maybe someone can explain it here?

I would think a heavy tallow-based mixed with a glycerin-based soap may be beneficial, but what else would it do? If it's just for fragrance then it seems a bit over-hyped since you could just add your own fragrance...

My first Superlather consisted of a thin layer of Cremo spread with my fingertips, followed by MWF made in my mug and applied with my favorite brush. I found I could get the best aspects of both at the same time: the slickness of Cremo and the wonderful conditioning and cushioning of MWF.

Superlathers are a great way to marry the finest aspects of two (or more) component parts.

From my understanding, a Superlather combines a soap and cream. An Uberlather combines a soap, cream, and adds drops of glycerin.

Superlathering/ Uberlathering enhances lather making, softens your beard, and leaves your face soft. Of course, experimenting with complimentary scents is fun.

This is an odd combination, but current Williams and C.O. Bigelow was my first foray into Superlathering. It improved the Williams by adding a touch of menthol.

    I use Uberlather http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/Uberlather
technique by combining soap and cream with a few drops of glycerin to the lather to help with a smooth, irritation-free shave. Since using uberlather, I have consistently gotten better shaves with no irritation.

According to a previous B & B tutorial by Luc:

" A Superlather is a mixture of 2 (or more) different shaving products that create lather on their own. You could superlather using a shaving stick and charge a brush on a different shaving soap to then face lather. The most common superlather is to use a shaving cream with a shaving soap."

According to this definition, Proraso and MWF would fulfill the requirements. However, the Registrar at Superlather U, would really appreciate it if you would try Proraso or MWF with a cream. Either way, your enrollment will be accepted.

BTW, I first load my brush with my soap, then using my scuttle (or larger bowl) I then load my brush with cream.

An Uberlather is three ingredients: Soap, cream, and glycerin. But the addition of lanolin- I don't know. Maybe we should call it a "SuperUberLather."

Instead of water, you could use rum for a great island experience.

Yes, then report back to us on the shave. I want to read my face was a bloody mess but it felt great and that'll be how you'll want to shave from here on out and try to convince us why it's the only acceptable way to shave for the ultimate experience.

I have mixed things, not a soap and cream, usually soap and soap, once soap and a stick?

I guess I've noticed I want some glycerin or oil with a strong tallow soap, but unless it's mixing a glycerin soap and tallow soap it hasn't seemed to do much for me. I found I liked Proraso on it's own, it's more when it's like Arko and too tallow-heavy and I need some glycerin.
