    Default Thinning hair....

Anyone recommend a solid shampoo that can slow up hair loss and/or thicken fine hair?

I've tried a fair amount. It's a band-aid at best. The only thing I can recommend is propecia. It works, but it's expensive and it kept me on edge. Once I turned 30, I threw in the towel and started shaving it completely.

I used Propecia and then also the stuff you have to spray on your head (Rogaine or Regaine) - but didn't help me since I wasn't thinning at the top but at the front.

Finally in 2006 I stopped the fight against male pattern baldness and decided to throw in the towel and shaved my head.
    Haven't looked back since that.

Shave my head 3 times a week now. I'm lucky because I have a nice looking scalp - some guys don't thus a shaved head makes them look like a figure from the 'Alien' movie :)

At one point you realize the effort you're putting into it is simply not worth the trouble. Hit the tannin booth a bit and go for a head shave (no one looks right with a snow white head)

Another vote for buzzing it------it's liberating knowing you aren't trying to 'hide' anything. Not to mention cool, comfortable, economical, and maintenance-free!!

Buy yourself a pair of hair clippers and buzz away, and once you get used to that apply your shaving skills to the top of your whole head instead of just your face. If any of those anti baldness shampoos worked you wouldn't see a bald man under 60 ever.

Finasteride (propecia/proscar) works well but we wary that it does have a tendency to reduce libido. So you may want to ask about HRT treatment from your doctor to get your testosterone levels up.

I envy people who can get away with a buzz or head shave.

Hi, I have used 5% minoxidil from doctors office for about a year now... I find that it doesn't help with hair coming back, but it does put a hold on hair falling out.

If there was a product that actually works then there wouldn't be so many bald guys around
