Looks like a 1914 model Ever Ready. Shave is very similar to the 1912 Gem. A touch more aggressive and I mean only touch, than the Clog Pruf.

A little milder than the 1912. Alot milder than the 1914. IME

EDIT: Yea, moe is right. I didn't see that. It's a 1914. You can tell by the "Lift Here". The '24 flips open forward over the guard.

That razor is dangerous. They were tempered in lead baths, and manufacturered from a proprietary formula of leaded brass. You couldn't pay me a million dollars to shave with it. I wouldnt even handle it without gloves.
As a fellow wetshaver, and being concerned for your safety, I urge you to properly dispose of this razor at once.
Disposing of that hazard in an approved fashion would be expensive. Instead, immediately mail the razor to me, and I assure you that it will be disposed of in the correct fashion.

It was my favorite SE when I used em. Well that and a 1912 Damaskeene.

I think they're good blades, but they start to rust as soon as lather washes the shipping oil off them and they continue to rust if left unoiled.

The PTFE coated SS Gems are just as sharp and last longer but are more expensive unless you glom on to the The Gem Group Buy currently taking reservations NOW!

Don't see that handle very often on the'14. That's an early one because it has the small blade stops, around 1920 they made them bigger. Watch when you snap the top plate closed because it sometimes jars the blade loose and one or both corners can ride up on the stops. The original blades didn't have the cutouts on the sides like the modern ones and they fit under the little hooks you see on the sides of the bottom plate which helped anchor the blade.

Used one of mine yesterday with a Treet blade, very, very efficient little razor, tied with the Clog-pruf as my second favorite SE. Nice score, hope you enjoy it!

Also, and FYI- pull the cap of the end of your handle, it is the stropper attachment slid inside. Spins on the handle when you take off the head of the razor. The 14' is one of my faves along with the Streamline and Clog pruf.

    Congrats, Good looking razor.
I have a few SE Razors...but not this one.

One of the closest shaves that I have had was from an OCMM. Have an OCMM in my rotation, too.
Wish I could get feather blades for an SE...I think Feather makes an SE blade that will fit some of the Auto Strop razors ?

They do, but the Feather SE blade will not work in a Micromatic because they lack the cutouts on the side for the locking lugs to engage. And, they're spineless so you have to add a spine from another blade to get them to fit securely in some/most of the SE's.

The blade stops look like tiny bumps instead of the little hooks I've seen on the other types. I figure that system would only work when there are those side clamps pressing the blade down.

Nope, they work just fine. The top plate on the '14 closes like a bear trap.

Hold the razor at the same angle as you would the old style razor...
I guess they're talking about straight razors.

I'm'o have to keep my eyes pealed for one of those kind of handles.
