Default Why does my face feel so good?

I've been using DE razor for about two months now. I can get a DFS pretty consistently, and on good days achieve BBS without much more effort. So I'm very happy with how it's been going. But the thing I like the best is just how nice my face feels during the day. It's hard to describe, but it just feels healthier. All I use after shaving is witch hazel, with a little cologne later before getting dressed. Is it the witch hazel? something about shaving with the DE razor itself? My face feels so good I have to restrain myself from stroking it on a regular basis. Late in the day, when the stubble is starting to come back, even the stubble feels different.

Anyone else notice this? Any ideas on why it is?

Yes, I have noticed this as well. What type of razor did you use before? I came from an electric, and it did not exfoliate like a blade will. I think the combination of exfoliation a good soap and an AS with a moisturizing component are the cause of your good pleasure :)

My guess it would be a combo of a few things. First, you probably are getting better overall shaves than before (cart/elec convert?). It just feels like a closer, smoother shave b/c it in all likelihood is.

Are you using different products (other than razor) than before? I found just changing from the canned goo to a cream and/or stick improved things dramatically for me also.

Many extol the exfoliation that goes along w/ wet shaving.

And I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of mental aspect to it, too. You know you're doing something different w/ your shaving, so you either notice different results more so or think you notice something different/better.

I've always been a wet shaver (going on 40 years with a mug and brush), and I had been using Gillette Sensor 3 cartridges for many years. I was pretty satisfied with my shaves, though I always seemed to have a few areas of irritation and chronic razor burn in a couple of spots. I think the big difference is that I'm really just cutting whiskers now, rather than the tug/cut you get with a cartridge. My chronically irritated areas are going away, and it could be that I'm finally shaving without irritation, and just noticing what a healthy face feels like for the first time!

i think it's all in the product or your exfoliating agent. for me, the lanolin in things like musgo have done wonders for a lasting, moisturized finish

If you are using good soaps, such as tallow, there a plenty of natural ingredients in the soap/cream that moisturize your face along with the Witch Hazel (Thayer's is the best). If you want even softer feeling skin, try some unrefined Shea Butter, or some natural balm. The Shea Butter is amazing! You won't stop touching your face after applying it.

You are enjoying the advantages of shaving with one blade instead of three. You are shaving the way that you should. Using three blades to get the job done when only one blade is needed comes with similar drawbacks as with any task in life that is overdone.

    Enjoy your new found glory!

A great brush made lather and a nice single blade razor make for a comfortable and smooth shave. A moisturizing lather and a good post shave routine also add up to a smoother and healthier face. It is most likely all of the above which is providing you with your your new found healthy face.

Hmm, the unrefined shea butter sounds intriguing. Where do you get it?

This was going to be my new signature, but too long for system to accept.

Just say to yourself "cause I'm damn good looking" and be done with it.

I was already saying that on a regular basis. I guess I could go up to two syllables on the "damn" -- "Dy-um, I'm good looking . . ."

When I first came to B&B, before I tried traditional shaving, I was confused by the term "faceturbate." Now, a couple of weeks later, I totally get it. Throughout the day, I find myself stroking my smooth face, marveling at how clean my shave is, and I can't help it. :0)
