    Default A Trio of W&B's

Decided to do these three as they represent the same family,, but alternate styles. I thought it was an interesting study in siblings being so different.
On the large, 9/8th For Barbers Use, I kept the original scales as well as the washers. Only thing new are the pins themselves which in this case are 5/64ths. After a polishing of the blade, cleaning up the scales it went back together.
Same story for the Gentlemans Razor #2 although the washers weren't unusual so I used #0 which I turned down to match the size and shape of the originals which were basically gone. The scales ( Horn) had the typical warps so I straightened them out and polished them up. I think this blade has a beautiful shape.
The baby in the group is trying hard to grow up to be just like it's big brothers! The blade measures 1 5/8th in length and is 4/8 width. Overall the scales and blade measure 4". In this case the scales were eaten up in sections and one had a good chip so I took some new horn and make exact duplicates to the originals in thickness, shape etc. Here too I had to turn down #0 washers to get them to match the originals.
    Hope you enjoy them.

a couple more pics. The big ones blade is so heavy it can't stay open itself! It certainly is a handful. And I wonder what the little one was built for. It's a cute little thing.

How did you remove the pins without destroying the scales... Drill method?

Yes, exactly! First center a divot in the pin before drilling or the bit will skate all over the place and make a mess if it hits the washers or slips into the scales. After that it's easy sailing. Granted, I'm using a drill press but a bit of caution with a drill can do the job as well.
