OK, the Cella tub weighed 210g this evening after two shaves, which I'll adjust for. I'm putting this in the thread so I will remember to look at the end of the month. Thanks for the idea.

I'm doing something a little different.

I'm going to use a different product each day!

I'm a week in and enjoying the MdC. The only variable I have changed is using my Dovo straight one day and have used my EJ89 w/Feathers the rest. Normally, my counter is cluttered with my shaving goodness but I've everything away except what I am using during this 30 day period. SWMBO thinks I'm nuts because it's clean, organized, and I'm not sampling the scents from 10 different pucks every day. Now with 3 weeks left, I'm starting to daydream about my favorite Mystic Water scent, Coconut Lime Verbena. Can't wait to get that back in the mix.

Started on Monday, but I typically do a full 7d rotation of product - so no jonesing yet. I am still getting a BBS shave from the Feather loaded into the R89 and the DR Harris Lavender is great.

My variable has been the brush; Mon was the BullGoose LE Horse, Tue was The Colonel and today was the Thater 4292/3 I bought off the B/S/T last week. Wow, each day is another experience in lather making.

The Thater is so different from the other brushes and it was the first time my face lather looked like those spectacular "lather porn" pictures the guys with photography skills post on this site. The brush was completely free of any kind of scrubbiness, it was like soaping up with a piece of velvet

Tomorrow the main kit will remain (R89 / Feather / DRH Lavender / Alum / Thayer's Lavender WH) and the brush will be my Frank's Shaving Travel Turnback in Finest, some scrub there for sure. Then the Vie-Long 13061, the Frank's Shaving silvertip w/fan knot and then we are back to the top of the order.

3 days down, and definitely enjoying the differences between Proraso and the previously used Cella. I'm going to stop using the pre/post as a post (like it as a pre-, though) and use the Proraso ASB instead.

Despite committing to work through soaps in this fashion (which I'm digging), I'm not doing a very good job of resisting the urge to buy more. Institut Karite today (WCS DoD), and mid-month will be the new RazoRock stuff (of which I have just about everything else under that line outside of the bar soaps and the deodorant sprays)...it never ends...

I came home to a package waiting in my mailbox. It was a tub of eShave's White Tea shaving cream. Interestingly enough, there is no tea in it, nor does it smell like tea. It does, however, smell great. I was anxious to try it, but having committed to 30 days of samples, I lathered it up and just used it as a pre-shave treatment. I'll be using a variety of soaps and creams as pre-shave treatments throughout this 30 days. Not only does it let me still enjoy variety, but it helps me use up product. Is that cheating?

Day 2 of Spencer & Devon "spice" shaving cream. This stuff smells great, leaves my face feeling wonderful, and can handle a ton of water, resulting in a dense, slick lather.

I really don't know why this stuff doesn't get more love.

Well, since I am participating in "minimalist May" I guess I can participate here too.

5/8 or larger straights (trying to decide on keeping them, or going smaller than 5/8, most of my straights are 4/8)
TGN silvertip (not a grade A, seeing if it becomes not scritchy at some point, also trying to decide on keeping it)
CADE soap (needs love, and it is a favorite)
Witch hazel, plain or Thayers Rose
Captain's Choice Bay Rum aftershave, or Thayer's Rose
    "La Verte" Coticule
free choice on strops since I only have 2

Heh, restraint. What's that? I just got 2 more straights from Ebay and I am ordering a custom Kamisori from Paco.

Four days into shaving with only the Shave Library Cedar and Sandalwood, and my initial thoughts are that this thread was a great idea. Not only has focusing on one product allowed me to significantly improve the lather that I get with it (I'm using about half as much product and producing a much thicker and slicker lather), but it's also allowed me to appreciate the subtleties of the soap. At first, I thought it was the sandalwood smell that I was really enjoying with this soap, but I've discovered that it's actually the subtle hints of cedar that are really what kept me coming back. This is presently my favorite soap - so much so that I may have to track the maker down and buy whatever stock he's got left from this batch!

With that said, I'm not sure I'll make it a month without a different soap. I'm thinking of taking weekends off, or going to a seven day rotation. I've got about half a dozen creams and soaps that I haven't lathered up once that are just screaming to be tried!!

I feel like I'm cheating by doing samples instead of a single product, but that's what I started doing, so that's what I'll continuing doing. Last night I finished up a packet of T&H Rose SC (great performance, didn't care for the scent), a packet of T&H 1805 ASB, and a sample bottle of eShave Verbena Lime shaving oil.

Tonight I start on the sample tub of GFT Rose. I'm not getting much scent from it and I'm not fond of the artificial rose color, but we'll see how well it works. I'll top that off with the GFT Coral skin food, also from a sample bottle.
