As some of you may have read in a previous post, I recently bought a Tumi laptop messenger bag which killed my bag AD (and made a big hole in my wallet). After using it for a few weeks, I became unhappy with the strap. Though it is very comfortable, it is poorly designed. Indeed, the metal hooks that connect to the bag rubbed against the material when the bag was worn. In addition to that, they created a kind of "dent" in the bag by pressing against the sides. I suspected that this would cause premature wear.
I wanted my expensive bag to last. I therefore purchased a leather strap from my local hardware store, and had a shoemaker attach it to the bag's strap loops with rivets. I wasn't sure whether this would work well or look good. I find the result surprisingly good. Plus, now I have a truly unique bag!
And yes, I might be a little neurotic!
