Gary Young of Simpson recommended squeezing the water out and then wiping it down a towel a few times. He specifically said not to shake them.
I would just let them air dry and alternate brushes so that you have atleast two days in between uses. Back in the day a guy with only one boar brush would use it daily and it would never totally dry out, but the hairs still split.
