    Default Tobacco and Leather

My uncle and my father both smoked pipes. Always loved the smell of pipe tobacco. Even their cars smelled great. (I used to smoke cigarettes, but now I can't stand the smell of a car that has had cigarettes smoked it in). Both of them smoked Amphora and my uncle also smoked Hickory Blend and Borkum Riff. His car(s), Lincolns with leather interior, always smelled heavenly to me. I can close my eyes and in my mind's nose remember that delicious smell of the Lincoln and pipe tobacco. I would love to find a cologne/AS/EDT that could capture that that same smell. Anybody know of a fragrance that closely resembles the smell of pipe tobacco/leather?

Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve A/S Cologne may do it. Very inexpensive online at Amazon.com.

Burberry London. Definitely tobacco and leather, maybe not pipe tobacco. It's a little more spicy.

Montale's Cuir d'Arabie might be worth checking out, but i don't think it will be quite what you're looking for to be honest. The opening seems a bit dirty to me for 15 minutes or so and i rarely catch the tobacco over the leather, oud, and smokey notes.

Tabarome Millesime might be an interesting one to you as well. i think leather is listed in the vintage, which i unfortunately haven't tried, but the current formulation is a nice tobacco scent. i was really disappointed with it at first, but i like it more each time i try it.

I've been thinking about this for a while and it seems like I sampled something recently (in the past couple of months) that fit this bill but I'm starting to think it was one of the oud oils I tried and not a perfume. However, I will recommend these for a start:

    Sonoma Scent Studio Tabac Aurea
    Aramis Havana
    Dior Leather Oud
Lutens Fumerie Turque or maybe Chergui
    Mark Birley Charles Street

I'm not sure any of these is going to provide both the pipe tobacco and the leather to the extent you want. I've been looking for something like that myself and don't think I've ever quite found exactly what I've wanted. Tobacco Vanille to me has no leather in it and Tuscan Leather has no pipe tobacco in it.

I haven't actually tried this yet (it's on my to-sample list), but the folks at basenotes are almost universal in saying that L'Artisan's "Tea for Two" is more a pipe tobacco scent than tea.

You might find that Santa Maria Novella Acqua di Cuba suits you. Very sweet (honey) tobacco. Some leather.

I have been on a similar quest (strong pipe tobacco scent) for quite some time, but unfortunately have not had any real luck finding a scent that is "just right". Most tobacco scents seem to have too many "extras" thrown into the mix for my tastes. The closest I have come would probably be Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, except the vanilla is much too strong, resulting in too much sweetness. If they were to reduce the vanilla strength by 1/2-3/4 while keeping the tobacco strength the same, it would probably be close to perfect for me. I also love leather scents, though haven't tried to find a mix of both in the same bottle.

If you have any luck, make sure to let us know.

If you want a solid (pipe) tobacco scent then look no further than Odori Tabacco. It's aromatic like Tobacco Vanille but with less vanilla and more tobacco. If you want a solid blond tobacco scent (as in Virginia Gold, or something sweet and haylike but with obvious tobacco notes) then look no further than SMN's Acqua di Cuba. And if you're looking for a solid leather scent then there are legion. But if you want a pipe tobacco scent with strong leather notes, then it gets very difficult. I've been kicking myself around all day trying to think of "the one," because I think I've tried it, and can't believe it's not coming to mind. For some reason Leather Oud is really sticking out.

I ordered and received yesterday a sample vial of Odori Tabacco from luckyscent, and I think they might have accidentally mislabeled something else, because I can't get any tobacco scent out of it at all. Neither can my wife nor the 3 other people I've asked. Everyone says it smells like either air freshener or some sort of bathroom cleaner. I kind of agree, I can't really name what it is I'm smelling, but it certainly isn't tobacco :/

I'll try and get my hands on some Acqua di Cuba and see how I go, cheers.

That's really very disappointing but I've heard that before. Sorry to hear it.

For that pipe tobacco vibe, you might want to try Portland General Store's "Professor." It doesn't last very long for me, but everybody is different. It might be worth it to check out a sample.

No, no, no. Although there is a smokey quality to Tea for Two, it's a far cry from pipe tobacco. At the same time, the dark tea note is obvious and somewhat resembles the strong tea note in Gucci Pour Homme II. IMO, Tea for Two -- which I own and like a lot -- wouldn't be anything like what the OP is looking for.

Santa Maria Novella Toscano is nice. No leather, but may be worth checking out.

I like Tabarome Millesime, but I don't think it's what you're looking for.

I meant to add something about Dior Oud Leather. The first time I tried it, I got a real smokey opening--more like an ashtray than a campfire. I don't consistently smell it, but there's something there. That wouldn't give you a nice pipe fragrance, but it is definitely leather and tobacco.

I really like Charles Street, but it doesn't immediately evoke tobacco for me. I get leather with raspberry and cocoa. I'll have to try it again.

Perhaps you can try layering leather and tobacco frags like Tom Ford Tuscan Leather with Slumberhouse Baque.
