Default What's worng with my treadmill? It makes weird noises when working.

My brother in law today, gave me his nearly decade-old treadmill, since he's getting a new one for the wifey. Anyways, I plugged it in and tested it out. The belt makes squeaking noises everytime I get on it and it'll move forward rather than back against the runner if I stop.

Could the problem be my weight(5'10" - 230 lbs) that's causing the belt to make such weird noises? Am I too heavy for the treadmill?

And I could safely bet, he probably doesn't have the warranty on it since it's so old.

This used to happen when I used a treadmill. I think that the problem is that the belt becomes unaligned and needs to be straightened. The belt is snagging. There may be knobs at the end of the thing that can be tightened or adjusted with an allen wrench.

It was years ago that I used one and I lived at home with my parents at the time. My Mom would call some repair guy and he would come and adjust it. Contact the manufacturer or do a Google search on the issue.

I can't even see where the parts are on the treadmill. If it helps any, it's Weslo Cadence 30_8 ct treadmill. And I've got a photo of the same exact treadmill.

The adjustment knobs would be somewhere on the end of it. The area on the belt closest to the wall. It could be on the sides, or on the end. There should be one on the left and one on the right. I'm just speaking from past experience. I don't know anything about that particular treadmill.

    I found this one Google:
