Question Vendors who ship without styrofoam peanuts?

I am just wondering if anyone has noticed which vendors package their shipments without using styrofoam peanuts? Thanks in advance!

Can't speak for everyone. I have only used 2 vendors to date. West coast shaving and smallflower.com (not a B&B vendor, that I know of). Neither of them used styrofoam peanuts, only air filled bags. I have an order coming from Joe at italianbarber.com coming in soon. I will let you know if no one else has responded by then about them.

It also may have just depended on what I ordered also. Which wasn't a whole lot since I had just started.

@OP - are you looking for vendor using packing peanuts made from corn by-product(bio-degradable)?

I just had a delivery from West Coast Shaving and IIRC they used artificial styrofoam.
Edit: I found the box and tested the packing peanuts - They are bio-degradable

I've worked recently with Shaving Factory through Amazon - they used NO packaging other than what the manufacturers used. That was kinda scary but my blades appear to be okay

I worked with The Superior Shave about a year ago and think they used bubble-wrap

I have also worked with Razor Blades and More. I don't think they used packing peanuts either.

That help? FWIW I am very happy with the level of service I have received from ALL of these vendors. Fast shippers, excellent customer service.

I've ordered from IB a number of times, and IIRC peanuts are included.

I was mostly looking to know as a way to identify which shops don't use them so I could patronize them more. I don't like getting the styro peanuts (the ones made out of potato starch are less of a problem, I guess, as they can be composted or watered down). It's interesting to see the variation in what is reported.

IIRC Superior Shave just tightly wrapped everything and used bubble wrap.

Martin de Candre uses starch peanuts, which are a zero impact environmental problem

I would think that cross country shipping might be less enviro friendly than worrying about peanuts, not that I dwell on these things.

I prefer biodegradeable peanuts, but for sure, the worst is the 1 or 2 plastic "air bags" they toss in the box thinking that it will buffer and protect, they are pretty much worthless..

The Well Shaved Gentleman / Heirloom Razor Strop Company - uses local newspaper which is cool to read what's going on.

Yes. That's a consideration too. I am mostly thinking from the "I don't want to have to throw these in the landfill or find someone to take them off my hands" perspective... Karl

Probably referring to my comment on without the peanuts. The only order I have received from them was just an EJ89L. If there were a few smaller products or something of the sorts, they may actually use them. The did not in the package I received. It was a box with the boxed razor and air filled plastic, not bubble wrap, don't really know what that type of packaging is called.

It may be a reasonable possibility that some vendors use several options for packing materials, depending on the items being shipped and their fragility. I've used bio-degradable peanuts, air bags, bubble wrap, shredded paper, and upon request, wrapped products and packed boxes with kraft paper.

Perhaps you could check with vendors whose service and products you like, and see if they can accodomodate your choice of packing materials.

Yes. I don't have a lot of extra storage space. But I will start saving the biodegradable ones in a bag for this purpose. Great reminder.

Now that's accommodating! And yes, I imagine some things ship better packed in peanuts. I like the kraft paper packed shipments I've received. That, I know i can recycle or reuse quickly.
