Default Wolverine 1000 mile 721 LTD

so after the controversial thread back in Jan
    "Is-the-overpriced-boot-some-sort-of-hipster-thing"

i started doing some research on the 721 LTD model.. i searched high and low, read reviews and what not, but couldn't get past the price... i kind of forgot about them until last month when somehow i stumbled upon them again... i don't know what made me think about them... finally decided to go all in and ordered a pair at the best price i could find a couple weeks ago..

wow is all i can say.. no regrets whatsoever right now and i love the style, fit and feel.. so comfortable...

I had also just bought a pair of these buttery soft cream mephisto casual sneakers that i can't find a stock photo for... so my shoe budget was kinda maxed out for the day..

been wearing the 721s to work at my desk job that requires professional style dress and they look great.. wore them around town with the fam, and also wore them to a church last weekend for a baptism... loving them and the way they feel... oh man...

That's a fine looking boot. Thankfully they don't have my size, so I am not tempted to impulsively purchase a pair.
    Enjoy.

Since I got to start that controversy, let me say those do look good.
If you get a chance you should take some pics of them paired with several pants to see the overall look. All we ever get to see is a shoe, or a model.
When I see them I always get a picture of a war-era salesman in a seersucker traveling the south.

    scott...
in the couple days i built up the nerve to order, i couldn't find 'em in my size either, the next day i found a pair after scouring the web which luckily turned out to be a great price in the end.

brent...will try to do that.. my wife is gonna think that's even weirder than take photos of brushes and soap...

just found a pic of the mephistos in a different color, mine are cream... ironic that i wasn't even looking to buy shoes that day, but somehow my wife got me into going with her to the store..

by the way, for any comments about wearing such excess to a church, i don't ever really attend churches as that's not my religion, but oddly many friends want my wife and I to be their god parents even though it seems to go against church protocol... I always feel like I am gonna explode into blazing fireballs whenever i walk into a church as a non-believer... but back to the shoes... friggin awesome... i was worried abut a blind buy not fitting well, but hot damn they feel great!

I remember seeing those at Leffot. I believe the ones pictured above were a limited edition shell cordovan model that were going north of $700.00. They were also numbered and Leffot had a contest wherein #1 of the limited edition was to be auctioned off. They are fantastic looking. Enjoy them. Post pics from time to time so we can see them as they age and the patina gets better and better and better.

Btw, this was the auction thread for the Japanese Tsunami Relief Fund.

That is a beautiful boot indeed. I am happy to have a few pair of Whites, that are a bit similar.

Nice boot. They will look even better after you've worn them for a while and they develop a nice patina

yup, my first pair of shell cordovan shoes and probably not my last (no pun intended)... i was also a bit worried about shell stretch (or lack of it), especially given i went a size down, but no issues so far...

i have to say, not unlike many other production stock photos, the color and sheen of the picture above is almost glowing... and real life the shine and color saturation are a bit different. still impressive to me though, my wife only ad to wash her hand over the leather to instantly understand the attraction to shell.

    mine are 927/1000.

The Shell Game can be a costly one. But, the leather is so resilient that these are not just shoes but rather, heirlooms. I know I have not purchased my last pair. Definitely have my eye on the RL Marlow in shell cordovan. Waiting for the right moment.

The 721 is good stuff! I've got the original 1000 Mile boot and I love mine but I wish they had a cap toe like the 721. The cap toe of the 721 makes them a bit dressier if needed. Keep us posted on the break-in! I plan on doing the same with a couple of my recent purchases - White's Outdoorsman and custom-order Wesco Jobmasters! Both of these have been purchased within the last month, so I need to chill for a while!

that cap is just one of the things that made me go for the 721s.

I think that it is unacceptable that you haven't posted any pics yet.
