I apologize in advance for the lack of pictures.
Went to visit my parents in small town East Texas and forgot my brush. Ran down to the local resale shop and found a gold Tech (no ball end) and a black EverReady brush for $2 and $1 respectively. I don't think the brush had ever been used. When I washed it in warm soapy water it turned brown. A couple of more washes and all looked good. I then proceeded to use it with my trusty Cella and got my first experience with a stinky brush. My first two brushes had no odor but this one made up for the other two :) When I returned home the next day I built a lather and let it sit on the brush overnight and it worked like a charm.
My biggest surprise was how well this brush with a long straight knot of less than premium bristles creates a very usable lather.
On another note, the Tech gave a surprisingly mild yet close shave with an Astra. A couple of times I had to check and make sure I had really loaded a blade because it was so smooth.
