LEA shave stick: New formulation with TALLOW and LANOLIN

After a massive e-mail petition in the Spanish forum foroafeitado, Lascaray - the makers of LEA and BEA products - apparently decided to improve their poor shaving stick, and came up with a new version of it, containing TALLOW and LANOLIN! :w00t: Here's some photos:

It is a proof that sometimes, even big companies listen to their customers, just like in the recent comeback of the Portuguese Lavanda cream, also by demand of the traditional shaving aficionados.
The version of the LEA stick that was produced untill today was quite poor (IMHO and YMMV, as always) - let's hope that this one is a considerable improvement over that one!

Sounds great, Emanuel. Look forward to trying it one day if your opinion is a positive one. Now if only Penhaligon's had the good sense to listen and act.

The old one had a very mild, clean, soapy scent..not arko-like at all.....actually,the old container was good, but this one looks more durable ,has vent holes, and they did a damn good job on the retro design...can't wait until one of the u.s. vendors brings this in.I had nice shaves with the old stick,no problems.

Good news, thanks. The new holder looks nice, aside from grey cap. I think it ought to match the blue on the label.

For reference we have a picture of the old holder and the ingredients from two previous formulations at http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/Lea_Shaving_Stick. One of those ingredient lists calls out geraniol, which I also see in this new formulation. It is supposed to have a rose-like odor. I also get a little citrus from my older Lea stick, but it is a mild scent. Also of note is that neither of the older formulations mentioned sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide, while this new list includes both. That might come from a change in labeling practices, or it might mean that the old stuff was a blend of manufactured components and the latest is a more traditional soap.

The old stuff lathered reasonably well for me, but this new formula looks better. Color and scent aside, the new ingredients look very similar to the Wilkinson stick: http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/Wilkinson_Sword_Shave_Stick.

I already have a message in to my contact with the company. I will see if I can get any air frieghted here as I will not do an ocean import from Lea for a little while. Might be a bit more in price because of it.

Wow, sounds good!

I sure hope it's not a farmed out wilkinson stick...I did not get great results with the wilkie...

They are out for the Easter week. They tell me they are in the process of re-doing all the good moving items which does not make a lot of sense since they are ...good moving items...Either way I will have them DHL a few cases next week. Price will be a bit higher due to the air frieght however. The Lea items already here are cheaper that comes via sea voyage.

Either way then we will have both formulas while they last.

It is probably made by LEA, I think... but I've very good results with the Wilkie stick, so id f they are alike, fine for me! :D

Well done for LEA, for listening to their customers.
I've never been able to get good results with the old LEA/BEA sticks - I sincerely hope that this one is better than the former version.

from wikipedia (so take with a grain of salt):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geraniol

Geraniol is a common fragrance component. If you're not sensitive to geranium plants and pollen it won't bother you.

Exactly. That is one of the components of the fragrance, nothing more.

The European laws stipulate that certain components that could be potential allergens (regardless of their origin, "natural" or synthetic) must be listed in the ingredients list. That's why it appears in that list.

The scent of this new stick was reported to be a clean, fresh scent, not Arko-like at all, and a close copy of the previous version.

The price of this stick in Spain is an absolute bargain: something between the €1,20 - €1,60.

Well, that is excellent news!

I like my lanolin soaps a lot (remember the lanolin / aloe editions of Prairie Creations?).

I hope that LEA starts selling this soap in a jar!

It is not widely available in Spain yet, it is right now hitting the shops. Most spanish users still don't have it yet!
