    Default Mitchell's Wool Fat

New here and working my way around. Mitchell's Wool Fat. I can't steer away from it. Thoughts? I find it to be superior to just about everything out there.

    Hehehe
there are so many more threads and posts in favour of MWF than against it. It is a freakin awesome shaving soap and is by far the best I have ever used and I will take out a bank loan to buy a LOT of pucks if it is ever discontinued!!!

It's a great soap but there are many other great ones out there, too.

I use it, I like it, I use other soaps as well.

It is a fine soap amonge many others, but it holds it's own. It all depends on you, your face and your shaving technique needs. Often someone unfamiliar with MWF will find problems and if they do not work it out then it may not be for you, but for many of us it is on the list of must have in the rotation soaps.

I hope that didn't sound too mystical but for all of us our needs vary.

if it, or any soap, was my only onei could used, i'd go crazy. don't know why, because when i was electric i used the same chemically nivea preshave for years.

now i rotate MWF with about 12 other soaps/creams and enjoy it every time it comes up.

It is outstanding stuff! In 6-9 months you'll realize how much you like it and other soaps/creams as you try the variety of products and narrow your must haves down. I went thru a few dozen products of all prices and MWF is the one I love in scent and the fact it NEVER seems to disappear. I can't say why but I don't know if it will be replaced when I use it up. I find it real easy to lather but so many impressive products are in my rotation that good ole MWF might not make the replacement cut.

It made all my soaps and creams(Tabac and original coates included) all obsolete. Nothing handles a Feather AC like MWF. The feeling after is sublime and the scent is fresh and delicious. The ceramic bowl also gives it a touch of old school. I only use most of my old products now just to dispose of them for good.

I have a love hate relationship with MWF. My first shave with it was horrible. Thought I was allergic to lanolin. It was actually the blade I was using. My 2nd shave with MWF was O.K., My 3rd shave was great, and my last shave with it was very good. It does leave your face very soft. And i love the smell of MWF.

Be that as it may, what brush and lathering technique have you found to be most effective when using MWF?

Personally, I get the best lathers with either a boar brush or my floppy vulfix brush. Most people suggest a dense, short lofted badger brush but they didn't work as well for me. I get a fantastic lather using the stated brushes.

Going thru the same process (narrowing down my "keeper" soaps). MWF will definitely make the cut. Love this stuff.

Semogue 1305, face lather. Combine with R41 and Feather and/or Med Prep...really, really, really nice.

Just ordered mine here on BST, I couldn't hold out since everyone has been talking about it. Now I can't wait.
I could probably load Tabac on a Q-tip and still get a decent lather

personally, I find it cuts fast and a little thin. I love it, yes, but it can be unpredictable and cut even thinner on an off day. scent - love. but, it simply does not have that thick creamy thickness that I appreciate. some days it does ... it's kind of like a beautiful woman in that woman ... finicky brother. worth owning = definatley. cheers.

I got a sample of it from Garry and couldn't get it to lather very well. I broke down and got a puck off the BST to give it another go. Hope I can get a decent lather off the puck vs the small sample
    Cheers, Ryan
