I don't know what it is, but it seems like DE razors/straights, fountain pens, and watches go together like macaroni and cheese, peas and carrots, etc... Must be the "working-vintage" thing or something. I feel and understand your addiction.

Same here. It's funny, I was struck with the realization the other day that, while most people go to antique shops and flea markets to collect things, I go there shopping for things to use every day. Whenever I buy or look at a fountain pen or DE razor, the seller usually is surprised to find out I actually intend to use it. I hadn't realized that it's such an odd thing.

A custom made copper, platinum, and ebony fountain pen is my only one. Took 3 tries before I got the fool barrels to stop breaking so I could put it together.

Apparently making pens is just as bad an addiction as collecting them. I've got about 50 of the things planned, but neither time to turn nor cash for the workings.

Like straight razors, my fountain pen jones started at a very young age. My father gave me his Army issue Parker fountain pen when I was around 12 years old and I never looked back. After that my mother gave me a fountain my father gifted to her when they were dating and it snowed balled from there. I have a few Waterman, some Esterbrooks, two Conklins and others.

I would love to have a fountain pen, but I always have to use forms and stuff at work. Plus my pens take a beating here, so destroying a nice pen does not sound like a good game plan. I have a nice cross selectip pen right now that gets the job done for me.

I have begun to dabble in fountain pens. Picked up some starters from Todd at isell...now I find myself browsing his site just a little too much.

Do NOT go to fountainpenhospital.com in that case.

I have never thought of fountain pens as a hobby or to use...I never thought of them. I just bought my first Waterman. Scary, it feels almost the same as when I bought my first razor. Man I better keep this pen thing in check though...the $ you could spend is ALOT!!
