Pretty much anything can be used as a shaving bowl, even a cupped hand or the side of a sink. (We all just prefer fancy eye-candy stuff)

i use a mortar for my shave bowl...

a nice walk in the woods helps me relax and relieves tension....

the fact i'm dragging a shovel and a body should be irrelevant...

    It's a mortar & pestle.

Yep, it's a mortar and pestle with a wooden pestle. From the look of it, it would make a fine lathering bowl.

Good move! Looks like the side walls are steep enough for good lathering without spillage. Nice score

looks like that little indent may be a nice resting sport for brushes when you are shaving.

Absolutely. It has nice depth and width. Should help make good lather.

Nice! I'd use it for sure. Since it lacks a handle, you might want to experiment w/ how you hold it/where you sit it to do your lathering. Rounded bowl + slick soap + wet hands could equal heartbreak. :)

I think that bowl (mortar) would work great for shaving and the pestle is good for smacking your kid in the back of the head when he acts like a moron.

Seriously, great find. That bowl will be a nice addition to the bathroom.

If you use really dense creams like CF, you could use the pestle for crushing up the snurdle to make it lather faster.
