    Default Best brush under 40

I have $40 for a brush. I was considering the Edwin Jagger Best Badger and the Frank Shaving finest but I am open to other options.

    Any insight?

Are you considering Badger and/or Boar? I love my Semogue 1305 boar, which is under $30.

For $40, why dont you just step up another $9 and get a Simpson Berkeley Best Badger? You won't regret it, and you won't be looking to upgrade in two months..

Vie-Long 1361. Takes on soaps and creams, is as soft as anything I've felt so far, and looks fantastic. The only drawback is the smell which fades pretty quickly. WELL worth the money, I'd buy a second even.

Frank shaving hands down great value soft tips not floppy at all. Make sure you get the finest not silvertip though. I have the flatop fan which is really nice and 3 others. They are all great values.

On badgers I'd invest on a small Simpsons in Best: Berkeley 46, Case or Special. On boars any Semogue.

    Check out Penworks.

    Here's a nice two band

    Here's a silvertip

Or you can go to thegoldennib.com (same company) and put together your own brush for close to your price range.

The more time elapses, the more I use my Simpson Special in pure badger.

Have a cheap but good shave.

The special is quite a good brush. So far today I raved about Simpson Pure badger three times, this is four. Aslo FS brushes are good. My custom hasn't shed more than a dozen hiars since having.

Keep an eye on the BST and see what comes along. There are some great values to be had there.

    Semogue 1250 Boar for under $20 shipped @ traditionalshaving.com

For badger, I'd probably go with one of the cheaper Simpsons "best badger" models. Pure badger is very scratchy stuff IME, I wouldn't waste $ on it unless you really like scratchy brushes.

I have a Vulvix 660 in Super and LOVE it! Omega has got so many models under 40$ also, but I can't speak about the quality of their badger, I have only boar with them.
