Default Xikar Xi1 Room 101 Review

    Xikar Xi1 Room 101 Cutter

The Xikar Xi1 Room 101 cutter is sleek, slim and stylish. This cigar cutter will not cease to amaze you. When you first open the package to the Room 101 you are instantly captivated by the cool graphics which appear on this series of cutter, then by its feel, the Room 101 is made of a quality aluminum and the image is laser engraved, no cheap screen printing here. Rest assured the image will last as long as the cutter. The cutter feels sturdy and well built, I have compared this cutter with some of its other premium competitors and found that this one feels like it is better built, there is nothing flimsy about this cutter. The next thing that you will enjoy is its performance; when you open it the Xi1 springs to life hungry for a cigar up to a 58 ring gage. These blades are made of 440 stainless steel and are sharp, sharp, sharp. The Xi1 cuts through your cigar like a hot knife through butter. When I first started smoking cigars I used to rely on a cheap plastic guillotine cutter and found it crushed then end off more than cut it. I will not trust my precious sticks to an inferior cutter ever again.

Xikar goes as far as to send you a free sheath for the cutter when you send in your warranty registration. I do have to touch on their warranty for a moment here, Xikar's slogan is Xikar for life, and they mean it. They provide you with a lifetime warranty when you buy any of their products. If you break it, they replace it. If it you dull it, they sharpen it. If you don't like it, they will exchange it. I do not know of any other companies that believe in their product that much.

The only down side of the room 101 series is what makes it the room 101, the graphics. They are really cool and definitely a conversation piece but I will say they may not be for everyone. This is the kind of cutter you pull out at your buddy's when you're having a couple drinks and a cigar or at poker night but maybe not what you would want to pull out at a formal event. I can't really find any down side apart from that.
The MSRP for this cutter is $69.99. Xikar is carried by most B&M shops and is available at a lot of reputable on line shops. So what have you got to lose? I challenge you not to like this cutter. As this is a forum, please feel free to comment with your xikar experiences.

I have had an Xi2 for several years, and I love it! I'm sold on pretty much all the Xikar products, plus they're from KC. Great products from a great company.

I have seen those and want one badly. You may have just pushed me over the edge. Thanks!

I have 2 Xi2s that I just sent back because the blades were starting to tear the wrappers. They sent me 2 new cutters to replace them. Turnaround was about 2 weeks.

Is it in reference to room 101 in the Ministry of Love (1984)?

"You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world."

I use an xi1. I believe it's identical minus the "cool" graphics. Absolutely love it, and Xikar's warranty and service are top notch.

It really is all James' fault.

(Okay, maybe Owen had something to do with it as well.
