My latest flashlight acquisition is the drop-in LED kit for a D cell incandescent Maglite, which is currently on sale on the Malkoff website.

Installation was a breeze (I also bought a modified reflector so I didn't have to cut up my original one). The end result is great! Very bright, retains the focusing ability of the original Maglite, haven't tested it at night yet but it seems like it will have a lot of throw. Simply shining it on a wall shows that it puts out a ton of light, lots more than the original incandescent bulb.

Even on sale the Malkoff kit is a pretty expensive option, and a person could probably start with a very nice new LED light for the same money. But, if you have an old-style Maglite that you like and you want to give it some more horsepower, the Malkoff is a neat upgrade.
