    Default Set alerts?

I wasnt sure where to post this. I figured here would work out. Is there a way to set alerts for when people post things. Like can I set something for the ofrum to send me an email whenever someone makes a post in the safety razor forum or the BST with the word "DE89" in the title? I cant seem to find a setting for this.

Just go in the thread tools of the thread that you want. Subscribe to it and it will show up in Settings (link top right) when someone post in it.

I dont want to know when someone posts in a thread. I want to know when someon starts a thread with a specific word like "slim" in the title or body of the post. Is that not possible? I know many of the other forums I use have an option to receive an email notification when someone starts a thread about a product you are interested in knowing about or purchasing. That functionality would be very nice here since many of the things I am interested in get scooped up within 20 minutes.
I want to be able to set it so that if someone starts a thread with the title "FS/FT DEs including fat boy, tech, slim" that it will recognize "slim" in the title or body of the post and send me an email to check it out. If this isnt a built in functionality, then it would be an excellent addition.

You would need something external. I think Google offers that type of thing where you can save a search or something...

That's cheating - you need to obsessively check the BST every 10 minutes like everyone else here!

Try http://www.google.com/alerts and fill in the query with "site:badgerandblade.com FS DE89". Initially you will get an email with old sales, but after that they should all be new ones.

Of course, once everyone is using this trick it will not give you any advantage.

So now you don't even want to be bothered READING the B+B before you get to play on the BST?
I think your priorities are backwards, sir.

It takes money to make such changes.

I sure hope this was in jest.

If not, I think it is inappropriate to judge the priorities of the forum members like this. The man wants what he wants. If the answer is that there is no built-in way to do this, then say it, but I don't think anyone (Steward, Moderator, Owner, whatever...) has the right to start judging what any given forum member has as a personal priority/desire.

One way would be to subscribe to the entire subforum you're interested in, and it will send you a summary report of thread activity daily (or possibly more often if you want it). You can use your mail reader to parse through that for keywords, if it's sufficiently smart.
