Default Take a look at what I found.

Well my mother-in-law actually found them. They belonged to her dad and were kept in an old cigar box for the past 50 years in her basement. The shiny Gillette SS date code is z3 and the SS in the red box is d1. I have already used the Gillette ball end a couple times and I love it. I can't clean the Schick because i can't get the blade out. One of the Gem jrs cleaned up really well but the other is corroded pretty bad. From what I gathered from my mom in law her dad was born in 1910 so I am guessing the Gems belonged to her grandpa. I am not sure if any of the razors are in the correct boxes as I just put them back in the boxes they were in when I opened the cigar box. Anyway, enough talk here they are.Click image for larger version.

Very cool.... It's nice to get some "family" items and what better for a "shave-a-holic" then a cigar box full or razors.

Wow. That's a great find. I think the history behind it adds to the value of the find. There's something special about connecting with generations far gone.

If you take some needle nose pliers and gently squeeze the spring of the injector, you should be able to slide it to the side. The razor head will then separate, allowing you to access the blade directly. One thing, though, you might want to wrap the pliers in a few layers of duct tape, so that you don't ding the spring.

Very nice heirlooms! Take a small screwdriver and push the blade out of the injector a little then grip it with pliers and pull it the rest of the way out.

Thanks a lot guys for the tips on the injector razor. Just to fill you in I got the other Gem jr cleaned today. It looks good but isn't as shiny as the other Gem jr no matter how much I polish it. I shaved with my Gillette SS this morning and found out it will take some getting used to. I haven't burned my self this much since my first shave. So far the Gillette tech ball end is still my favorite shave but have yet to use the Gem jr.

Don't use the pliers unless the spring is the type that was designed to be rotated, otherwise you could damage the razor. Better to use the small screwdriver method mentioned above.

Nice haul! I'm especially a fan of that SS in the velvet-lined case.

Yes, me too. Probably not the original SS case; I'm pretty sure they always came in plastic. Was the standard, work horse razor in its time. But it deserves the velvet case.

It is. When I first looked at the razor it was covered in some muddy looking stuff and had a blade in it. After removing the blade, boiling, scrubbing bubbling, tooth brushing, and brassoing it looked brand new. There isn't a single knick, scratch or blemish in the entire razor. I actually wouldn't be surprised if I am the first person to use that razor.

I have a question though. The Gem jr with the thinner handle, I can't find another gem jr like it doing a search on here or google. Is it the right handle to the razor?

Yes, that is the correct handle. The one with the fat bakelite handle came out around 1938, it's known as the Baton handle.
