Thread: Cult of Arko

  1. Default

I'd like to see Arko shaving soap in a shape of a puck which fits in an Old Spice shaving mug. Or any other shaving mug. This is an excelent soap which I love to use, but I am sick of squashing it down and molding it in my mug. Yes I know it's a stick which we rub against our whiskers, but I prefer a classic brush swirling in a mug.

OK Gents, I have to come clean! I have NEVER tried Arko! Perhaps all the talk about the scent has chased me off. I only recently started to use sticks. So far that has been Palmolive and La Toja and I like them both. I probably should try all the other popular brands sometime. Maybe I will have to add an Arko stick to some future order.

I do something similar, I have my travel soap in a plastic container I picked up in the local supermarket but mine has some secure clips on the side so the container doesn't open in my bag.

Has anyone found a way to intensify the smell. Its just not strong enough for me. Seriously I agree with you guys its good stuff and getting more use now that its smashed, I'm just not as much of a stick fan but now that its in a container I reach for it more and more.
Funny I know this is blasphemy but my favorite soaps are Arko, Martin de Candre, and Pre de Provence. Opposite ends of the price spectrum!!

I haven't tried it yet but there is a classic scented arko shave cream. If it has the same scent as the stick, maybe a superlather with the two might kick up the scent a notch. I have an unopened tube, I'll have to give it a try. The citrus arko cream is definitely not the same scent though, nice but more orange like.

edit: I just looked and found that there is an original scent and a classic scent. Not sure which may be closer to the stick. I don't have original.

I just got rid of the original scent NIB but i have a max-protection one (supposed to be the same as original with more ingredients, i think) *shrugs* might have to open and smell one of these days.

Okay, I am obviously super new to B&B, and my google-fu seems to be garbage today- can some one shoot me a link to where one can buy a stick? I am not new to wet shaving, but new to wet shaving as a hobby (never used a stick before, just AoS) Sticks intrigued me and I was thinking about getting several to test out (no shops besides drug stores in my area, amazingly) but neither of the vendors I am buying from seem to stock it...

/edit - I am a dippidy do today. I skipped the thread "Arko on Ebay" because I do not "do" ebay, but the first response was to go on Amazon. I shall.

In US, Arko is best gotten online. Here is a link to a single stick at Amazon. Here is a link of 15 stick on Amazon. There are also B&B vendors who sell single sticks such as Shoeboxshaving. You can also post a WTB thread on Buy/Sell/Trade (BST) forum and ask to buy a stick. Many guys have bought a 15 stick deal and will more than likely sell you one or more of their stash.

    Good luck.

Thanks! I did some re-reading and found that info. This forum is set up JUST different enough from another that uses the same base coding that I am scrambling!
