Thread: Cult of Arko

I've been informed that a Cult of Williams exists. I'am sorry, but in fact, their is no organization known as the Cult of Williams. Which in its modern form is a sad version of its former self. Its no Arko. It lacks Arkos ability to seduce the masses.
    Long live Arko!

Has anyone tried Arko with one of the new synthetic or a Vie-Long horse hair brush and can report how it may compare to a badger or boar?

Boar brushes are much more economical and are lot of fun to use, especially once they are broken in. They work every bit as well as badgers at a quarter of the cost, so you can have 4 times as many brushes :)
I love the 2000 , but I looking to buy another boar , either the 830 or the SOC for my next one.. I face lather exclusively and as it is getting more and more broken in , It is feeling better and better !!

    It's alive!
Finally arrived, a tad squished but otherwise intact.

The smell is almost exactly the same as the yellow jelly bean I ate this morning. Not the gourmet kind, the cheap 99c per bag CVS kind, where the taste is more "industrial yellow" than "lemon".
Looking forward to shaving with it.

Now to grate or nor to grate, that is the question.
Whether tis nobler in the end to press the stick and scent in outrageous scuttle,
or to just mash against a sea of stubble,
    and by lubricating, end them.

    Preferences?

Try face lathering first, you can't ungrind a stick very easily. I prefer dipping the very tip of the stick in water and putting it right on my face. Start lathering with a not too saturated brush, you can add more water at any point.
The higher the blade count, the worse the shave....

Do not ingest anything that smells like Arko!
    Try shaving with it.
    Or peeing on it.
Or washing your laundry with it.
Or taking a shower with it.
    But please, I implore you
Do not take anything that smells like Arko internally. That smell was developed specially to deter people from eating it. Kind of like Windex is colored that blue color that no other food has. This was also done to discourage ingestion. Of course, they still make soft drinks that look like windex... Ah, never mind. Eat as much as you want of whatever you want.

It's so slick, oooo, I'm a believer, I couldn't not make lather if I tried.

I use Arko exclusively with my Vie-long Sardinero Horse Hair brush....it it works wonderful...IMO way better than my silvertip badger or boar brushes with the Arko. My Vie-long has become my "go to" brush for face lathering regarding of soap or cream used.

I normal may a cheap superlather of Arko and Derby cream to face lather and its a great combo!!

Vie-Longs and tallow based soap sticks just work. Plain and simple. Either it is the scrubbiness or thinness of the horse hair but I've noticed this phenomenon.

I have been thinking about one of the Vie Long brushes, oh well this and the Muhle may well set me up for life. :-)

I just tried Arko yesterday....and have been smelling it and dreaming of using it all through today. I need to shave every other day only. I could not believe how the lather exploded once I applied my badger brush to my face. I loved putting the warm, bare brush to my face and spreading around that creamy, slick, warm lather! What a luxurious experience a shave stick provides! I have used MWF, Cella, TOBS (Sandalwood), TOBS (Lavender), Proraso (green tube), Proraso (white tub), and Mama Bear's Bay Rum...and I already know that Arko will go into heavy rotation. Just bought some twistup tubes for application/storage. I am already addicted and will most likely try to convert everyone I know.
